Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Monday…gaaaaaaaaaaaah!

I’ll need a lot more coffee to work my way up to snarling like teh thread dog.

Unsurprisingly, I see several items from Jim teh Roofer in my inbox. I suspect it’ll be another busy week.

Got a couple of calls Friday re leak repair proposals we did in January of last year which weren’t accepted, probably due to being deemed “too expensive”. Seems the cheap-azz repairs which were done by others failed. (We rarely submit repair proposals we cannot warrant, as they’re nearly always guaranteed to become an “issue” which leaves all parties unhappy.)

I manfully resisted the impulse to use

Neener, neener, neener,
Real Name

as the closing of my written / emailed responses. 👿

Good morning, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa!

We got about 2.75″ of rain, with a bit more to come. We’re about 2″ short of our normal rainfall total for the entire season, with a couple of normally rainy months left. Now if only we had been building water storage capacity over the past 40 years.

Fatwa -- it’s amazing how many people think a quick fix should last as long as a proper repair or replacement.

Hai, Paddy!

Why build reservoirs, cisterns etc. when you can build an über-expensive train which will be more expensive, slower and less convenient than airplanes? Why do you hate “progress”, Mr. O’Luddite? 😉

Re roofing “quick fixes”: Unless it’s an emergency, Jim won’t do them…and always makes clear they’re temporary. Followed-up with a proposal to do a permanent repair.

Doubly-so wherein HOAs are concerned, as they often have one or more “sue happy” Board members. And there are plenty of scumbag “construction defect” attorneys who make a living dinging contractors’ liability carriers by counting on the fact that carriers tend to simply settle claims under $X rather than fighting them.

Drive-by:

Hai, Mac!

Yes, it’s “nice when you don’t even have to”. (Gloating’s probably not good for business, anyway.)

I wonder if this is a new grocery merchandising concept for certain demographics:

It needs a “Fresh Cucumbers” sign to make it complete, Fatwa.

So, a few months ago, I quit comin’ aroun’ heah. Nobody seemed to like Trump but me & I just didn’t want to argue or see teh squeak be a mean-fighting blog.
I just watched rallies & read a lot at The Conservative Treehouse.

But I missed my gerbils. Really bad.
I thought I would hop back in after the election but I never did. I don’t know if it makes sense, my feelings for each of you never changed. I just didn’t want to hear the negativity.

So, what changed? Why am I back here saying that that I miss & care about you but that I didn’t want to “hear from you” for most of the year?
What changed: Two weeks ago I had a massive heart attack’ My artery was 100% blocked. They put a stent in to open it. I was in the hospital six days. I have congestive heart failure etc. But I can walk around & I’m (so far) not dragging an oxygen tank along.
The GOOD news is that I quit smoking! Like, instantly Ha Ha!
So, BW and I are doing fine. I am now hooked up with the county medical service & they will handle all the doctors & care that I need. I don’t have a lot of energy, so I don’t know when I’ll hop back on Teh wheel.Al I need going forward are kind thoughts and prayers. Thanks in advance.

See ya later.
Love, Rabbit.

Reply to  Mac

Let me also echo Mac’s apology, Rabbit. I’m truly sorry if anything I posted made you uncomfortable. I was never a fan of Trump’s, and like Mac and a lot of other people, voted for him as opposed to Hillary!, but you are much more important than any political posturing.

Thoughts and prayers, Rabbit. You’ve been missed. Please stop by more.

So sorry to hear about your health problems, but glad to hear you are on the mend.

I see the MSM is righteously indignant about the tonedeafness of Trump at the CIA. Why, it’s almost as much indignation as they tossed out back in 2009 when this occurred:

BTW, the rain has stopped out here. Got 4 inches or so yesterday, but beyond small slides and road closures, no major damage in our neck of the hills. Supposed to be clear the rest of the week, but cold.

Hi Paddy!

Of all the jaw-dropping WTF moments from the last several days, this CNN lecture is the one that rendered me speechless:

For the last 8 years, all I’ve heard from the MSM is that America sucks. We are a nation filled with racism, sexism, homophobia, islamophobia, and income inequality. We lag behind all other civilized countries in everything. The police are killing young black men for no good reason except that they hate young black men. We are intent on killing the planet. Colleges are nothing more than hunting grounds for rapists. Mass shootings occur every week while the NRA keeps getting richer. We engage in the war on women, the war on immigrants, the war on the poor…and on and on and on….

And now because Trump says that things aren’t going so well in America, the Left has now discovered that gee, America isnt such a bad place after all. Amazing.

Amazing too that he claims that there have been no “major” terrorist attacks since 9/11.
