Among other things, Roy Moore was booted from the AL Supreme Court not once but twice for placing his, ah, personal spiritual beliefs before the law.

IMO, in many regards, he’s a walking cartoon of a Southern Christian fundamentalist (YMMV); he seems to have some non-trivial issues with the separation of church and state.
I can see several reasons, Fatwa, not to vote for Moore. What I object to is the likely method of his election loss. What I find troubling is the unquestioning acceptance of a woman’s story of an event that occurred 40 years ago when the woman was 14 as justification for demanding he withdraw.
“The allegations against Roy Moore are deeply disturbing and disqualifying,” said Arizona Sen. John McCain. “He should immediately step aside and allow the people of Alabama to elect a candidate they can be proud of.”
So according to a fellow Republican, the allegation is enough to end Moore’s senate run. An allegation. No proof, no skepticism of the allegation. Someone accuses you of something 40 years ago and that’s it. Is that really the standard that McCain and the GOP want in place?

HANNITY: At that time in your life…Let me ask you this you do remember these girls would it be unusual for you as a 32 year old guy to have dated a woman as young as 17? That would be a 15 year difference or a girl 18. Do you remember dating girls that young at that time?
MOORE: Not generally, no. If I did, you know, I’m not going to dispute anything but I don’t remember anything like that.
Equivocate much, twice-booted Judge Roy?
Either he has mental issues (LambiePieK characterized him as “crazier than a rabid weasel” -- an assessment I find too kindly) or he’s a lying sack o’ carp. I’m damned certain I never dated any teenagers when I was in my early 30s. Never would have even occurred to me to do so.
This jackwagon clearly won’t follow any laws with which he disagrees; we’ve got more than enough human filth of a similar ilk in Congress already.
I agree that his interview with Hannity didn’t come out so well. If I was a Moore supporter, and if this is the way he answers difficult questions, I’d have doubts if he could handle the job of senator. Personally, I don’t think I’d vote for him just based on age and if I were an Alabamian, maybe I’d just sit this one out.
But the bigger issue here as far as the GOP goes is if you are going to accept this as the new standard: any allegation no matter how unprovable or how old is enough to bounce someone out of an election, then you best be prepared for a world of hurt coming up.
There’s plenty of reasons for a 14-year old girl to lie, just as there are many reasons for a 14-year old to embellish an incident and 40 years later, to have both herself and any friends that she told the story to 40 years ago to believe it as fact. That nearly everyone is just taking this at face value is a mistake.
