luckily for us, we have a gas stove top and range. So wad able to make coffee this morning without a lot of trouble. California however, is planning to outlaw natural gas appliances because global warming.
I think natural gas has been the prime reason for the reduction in our emissions and CA wants to ban it for home use? I am not really surprised. Can’t have the peasants enjoying clean energy, reducing emissions without suffering privation. Might spoil them to expect to rule like Party members.
Good morning, gentle Gerbils. More storms last night. Lots of rain, thunder, and lightning but no sirens and less excitement so not as bad. Just looks wet this morning. We have not lost power, but we are not as woke as California here, just a bunch of snake handling rednecks.

We left Healdsburg about 9:30 yesterday morning. The smoke was thick and the ash was falling down like light snow. We drove south-east to Sonoma and stopped at a creamery to buy some local cheeses -- primarily aged Monterrey Jack. Wonderful! Tastes like asiago or aged romano. The side trip was to avoid traffic in Silicone Valley. We then headed south to Paso Robles -- the trip down the 101 is much nicer than taking the 5. We stopped in Paso Robles for dinner -- again to avoid evening traffic in LA -- and learned the 5 had been shut down north of Santa Clarita due to the fire in that area. Really glad we decided on the scenic route! The smoke was pretty noticeable in Camarillo and further east. Got home about 10:00 pm. My sinuses are complaining loudly about all of the stress they’ve been through.
Last Saturday I was looking at mortgage interest rates and ended up checking my credit score through NerdWallet. I noticed an account that I didn’t recognize (Capitol One), but Mrs. Paddy was gone all that day and I figured I couldn’t do anything about it until we returned from Norcal anyway, so I put it on hold. While checking my email this morning, I found one from MasterCard notifying me of a new address on my credit profile. For the past three hours I have been on the phone, on hold, or on the websites of MasterCard, Experian, Capital One, and TD Bank. It appears that I’ve been the victim of identity theft. Fortunately, the Capital One credit account that was opened (by someone in Jamaica, NY) hasn’t been used, even though it was opened in August. That account has been closed, a fraud alert has been placed on my credit report, and I’m waiting for a deputy to show up so I can file an identity theft report. I seriously expected to be able to take care of that part online, or at least over the phone -- why waste a deputy’s time with a personal visit? I’m still trying to reach TD Bank to get the credit inquiry removed and to make sure they don’t open an account.
Criminy, Paddy…hope you can get that all resolved soonest.
Wonder if the reason for a deputy’s visit is some arcane need to positively ID you. (And it probably wouldn’t hurt to have an official popo report in case any other stuff shows up in the future.)
I spoke with the deputy (he just left) and he said they can currently only take one type of report over the phone or online. The entire reason for filing the report is that Experian won’t remove the NY address (which is in Queens, btw) from my account without a police report.

Not quite sure what to do today about work. Maybe try to go in and work a few hours or just stay here and hunker down.
