I’ve never read “The Art Of The Deal”; dv8 made an excellent point re that book and our vaunted media.
It appears they -- and the DNC -- will “underestimate” Trump right back into the White House. (Which is okay with me; he’s done a far better job thus far than I ever expected.)
Sure wish we had major political parties which embraced our founding principles. (You may say that I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one…)

This pic confuzzled my poor brain until I “got” it:
I hope Trump shows a little restraint and poise during his noon speech today. His best bet would be to let it go and tell the country he’s moving on and getting back to the business at hand. That’s what I hope. What I expect is fireworks, clowns, and gladiatorial games reenacting his victory over the Dems.
I listened to most of this spectacle at work -- and I thought Trump did a damn fine job of it. To my ears, he sounded authentically grateful that he had people backing him up. The man has been on his own for the last three years and it’s about time that he had allies around him.
Of course I was disappointed that there were no gladiators.
Since turning 60, I’ve found that by Thursday I’m done with work. There ought to be a law that once you reach a certain age, like 60, you get to work a 4-day work week of 32 hours and get paid for 40.
Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
The new hire at work went on medical leave a couple of weeks ago, then resigned on Tuesday. With the number of students we currently have in special education, we can’t justify hiring another person, however we have 10 new students enrolling who are in special education. Those 10 would put existing staff over their caseload limit (a hard limit set by the state), so we need someone else. Unfortunately, this is not a good time of year to hire any kind of teacher. We may have to contract out services for the rest of the year.
Heh. First thing I noticed was how very much glass that building has. They’d better let Sanders run or that place is trash. Love the hair now that I see it.
That little raccoon IS me since I turned 60! At least he made his bed…I approve of bed making.
Thank you Gentle Lady. My right eye is surprisingly good. My left has some distortion but it is not bad. I do not need glasses except to read and simple 2X reading glasses work. He gave me a prescription but he said I would do no harm as I am doing so I will probably hold off. There is a slight film forming on the membrane behind the lens, He said this is common after the surgery and can be treated by laser if it gets worse but is not a problem now, so I just see him next year.
I plan to go soon, but I have not gone since my heart attack in 2016. My right eye was useless so I had to use my left eye even if shooting with my right hand, but I can shoot a handgun right or left handed. Rifles are another matter and the bad right eye pretty much meant no rifle shooting. I just renewed my range membership and do plan to get back to regular visits. I am far over due.
Having a bit of lack of Motivation. Other than that, everything is OK. The trip was a long day of things, but fun. I did a bit of shopping while down in Phoenix, and came back with a new car. Well… 2018… but still new, only 24 miles on it. A friend rode down with me, and we had fun talking about stuff.
So… Modern Bells and Whistles… carwise. I guess that’s nice. I still haven’t explored all the menus in teh car computer. So far though, it seems to interface nicely with my phone via USB or Bluetooth. I’m not sure if the built in screen has additional apps you can get or if it only piggybacks off your phone. I actually haven’t messed around with the interface all that much yet. There appears to be some kind of services you can sign up for. Not sure what is what yet. Maybe that’s how you get apps for it? I don’t know. Maybe I should go play with it some more.
It also has SiriusXM but hell… I can listen to the SiriusXM sample channel for free, so why pay for that?
This is kind of a new experience for me. The newest car I’ve ever bought from a dealership (or otherwise) has been a tad less than 3 years old.
Anyway, I went to WinCo, and bought enough Wheat Protein and Whey Protein to last probably three years. This is how I make “carby” things that aren’t actually “carby.”
FYI: Wheat protein (aka gluten : ) tends to make flour mixes stick together, while most other proteins tends to make them fall apart. So, I discovered through trial and error that mixing proteins can make baked goods pretty much perform like their normal flour based counterparts. So Bread, Biscuits, Scones, Pancakes, Noodles, etc. are much higher in protein.
So I create mixes that give you a 40/30/30 balance, which are much better for keeping those pounds off and muscle mass up.
I think I’m geeking out here a bit too much on the protein part of the story.
“Hey, Harper. I have to go to Phoenix to buy a few things that I can’t get in Sedona like wheat germ .”
“OK, dv8. Is there anything else you need to pick up?”
“Nope. Just that darn wheat germ…”
It looks like a nice car. I hope it serves you well. Elena’s last two cars were Kias and she has been happy. We had a 1997 and she has a 2002, both were new. We were hoping to replace this one a couple of years ago but that did not work out. It is still doing well.
Teh YAY! for a good follow-up appointment re your eye!!1!

Teh YAY! for your new car!!1!
Just booked a Sunday flight to L.A.; headed out there for three weeks to manage a JimCo project which the customer suddenly decided they wanted to commence ASAP. (They’ve been dicking around for 22 months.)
*Eyeroll*…now with extra feelthy lucre.
Perhaps I’ll be able to see teh Svens while I’m there. 😉
So what was the point of impeachment? Here’s my dark thought for the night. The Dems are setting him up to be assassinated.
For almost four years, the media and the left have called him Hitler, worse than Hitler, a threat not just to America, but to the entire world. Liar, misogynist, a cager of children, and a racist with a dog whistle. Everything that the left has tossed at him, he’s shrugged off. And if you really believe everything the media says, then what is the next logical step to stop him?
Sadly, that wouldn’t surprise me, Sven. I’m sure it wouldn’t surprise him either which is probably why he still maintains his own world class security team that works alongside the secret service. I wouldn’t trust the secret service in his place.
Watching the State of the Union speech the cameras kept switching back to Melania as the president was coming in to the room through the crowd with his security. She looked so strained and concerned, which was interesting because she is a master at controlling her face. After he was up in front and out of the crowd she regained her more perfect composure again. It barely slipped but it was there.
Happy Judgmental Waschbär Thursday, GN!

Hee!
Lazy coon pic. I like.
Good morning, Fatwa. Hello, GN!

I hear you, Sven.

Geez. That doesn’t sound good for teacher or students.
I saw this last night, and then I see this morning that they are blaming Trump supporters for the Iowa fiasco.
You can’t make this stuff up… truth is stranger than fiction… etc.
Heh. First thing I noticed was how very much glass that building has. They’d better let Sanders run or that place is trash. Love the hair now that I see it.
That little raccoon IS me since I turned 60! At least he made his bed…I approve of bed making.
Put him in a recliner chair and he would be me most days.
Hello, my friend. It’s good to hear that you finally rest after years and years of hard work!
My inner child could not resist.
Hahahahahahahahahaha!
(My inner child approves.)
Heh. Gentle Mac, you always did have a discerning eye for the, um, base of their philosophy. I love that about you, you cut through their cr^p.
If I didn’t watch Pewdiepie, I would’ve had to look this one up, but Pewds keeps us up to date on memes.
He’s now taking a much deserved vacation after not taking a day off in 10 years.
.
Ha!!
Ah, Fatwa, I needed a new tablet. Call me so we can discuss what you’re buyin’ for me.
Off to the eye doctor for one year followup on my eye surgery. I’ll look in when I can see again.
Hope you have an uneventful appointment, sir.
What he said!
All fine, thank you.
That’s great to hear!
That’s good news, Mac.
My heart is happy now today!
Thank you Gentle Lady. My right eye is surprisingly good. My left has some distortion but it is not bad. I do not need glasses except to read and simple 2X reading glasses work. I’ll bet it’s nice to be able to see now when you’re at the range although shooting party blind probably made you even spookily better.
I plan to go soon, but I have not gone since my heart attack in 2016. My right eye was useless so I had to use my left eye even if shooting with my right hand, but I can shoot a handgun right or left handed. Happy lack of motivation Thursday, Gerbil Nation.
Hi, dv8!
I hope all is going well in your neck of the woods.
I hope your trip went well.
Having a bit of lack of Motivation. Other than that, everything is OK. The trip was a long day of things, but fun. I did a bit of shopping while down in Phoenix, and came back with a new car. Very nice, dv8! It does take a bit of exploring and practice to get used to all the tech.

Hot damn! Zigs!!!
What he said!
Oh, me, me, me! Arizona isn’t that far! You could make a short road trip with the Sven’s and make me very happy!
And everyone wants me to be happy ’cause I’ve got this little bent wand and stuff. Small but mighty…
So what was the point of impeachment? Here’s my dark thought for the night. The Dems are setting him up to be assassinated.

Sadly true. I am concerned about the corruption of Federal agencies, including the SS.
Watching the State of the Union speech the cameras kept switching back to Melania as the president was coming in to the room through the crowd with his security. She looked so strained and concerned, which was interesting because she is a master at controlling her face. Goodnight, my friends. It was lovely to see you tonight.
Sleep well.
Zzzzzzz………((((poof)))))
Good night Gentle Lady. What a treat to visit with you. Sleep well.
