Just musing out loud here…

Was talking with Mrs Sven last night about how her company, and to a lesser extent teh bestest place ever, are pushing the diversity-inclusion-systemic racism conversation on an almost daily basis. So far, it’s the rather generic statement of values affirming the woke message that we can ignore or consider at our discretion. Eventually though, it will become more direct with “classes” and webinars that explicitly accuse us of inherent white privilege, racism, and actions we must take to atone. Corporations have been made to care and that shit rolls downhill so that all white employees will be made to care as well, or at the very least show the minimum acceptable appearance of caring, in order to stay employed.

What to do? How to respond when forced to respond? The safest course to keep collecting a paycheck is to play along. At our age, yes we are that old, the possibility that these jobs are our last jobs is quite real. Employers are not lining up to hire people over 60, especially those without college degrees. Losing our jobs right now would really screw with the rest of our lives. Go along to get along. Look at the big picture. Etc.

But that doesn’t sit well. It doesn’t feel right. It isn’t right. I’ve tried, especially in the workplace, to treat everyone with respect regardless of their position and I’ve expected the same in return. At times at work, I’ve discussed my personal values and beliefs, but I’ve never expected a business to agree with them or to force others to agree with them. At work, I come to work, and I expect to be judged by my actions not by my personal beliefs or by my acceptance of some absurd religion -- and make no mistake, this BLM/SJ movement is a faith-based secular religious belief unencumbered by facts, logic, or truth with a goal of power, not betterment.

If it comes down to it in the workplace, I won’t do it. I don’t plan on going out of my way to confront it in the workplace, but if the workplace overtly comes at me with it, I know where I stand. It is a time of choosing and silence is no longer an option.

I may wonder a few years from now, as I poke my fork in my plate of Ramen and cat food, just what I was thinking back in 2020, but so it goes.

Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven!

Not only did the Democrats that run California screw online charter schools in the budget bill, but they also announced that payments from the state to the schools would be delayed. We all know what that does to cash flow, especially if you aren’t sitting on a pile of cash. Our enrollment is now artificially capped at what it was at the end of February, and we won’t get paid for the boatload of students who enrolled after regular schools shut down. We hired a scheduler to handle the process of scheduling meetings with teachers, parents, administration, and outside agencies, and were in the process of hiring another special education teacher. We had to let the scheduler go yesterday and won’t be hiring another teacher. Meanwhile, students who haven’t already signed their enrollment documents will be put in a lottery to see who gets to come to our school. The losers will be put on a waiting list. The teachers union gets their wish and the kids get screwed.

Sheesh. I’ve come to expect things like this in CA, but is there a US school district that does things right?

Given the power of the unions, I seriously doubt it.

Hiya, GN!

Hey, Sven and Paddy!

JimCo job got off to a difficult start but productivity is getting better. Somehow, despite the filth and chaos, the Board is getting nothing but positive feedback about us, so yay.

Just checking-in with all o’ y’all; might BBL but more likely I’ll fall asleep after dinner. 😉

Thanks for checking in, Fatwa! Glad to hear that things are getting better and that the customer(s) is happy.

Filth and Chaos -- I think I saw them open for Dangling Fury at the Palladium.
