Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Happy Monday, GN!

Hope Plaguie’s new migraine meds continue to be efficacious.

Sorry to read that Sven’s eye is still troublesome. πŸ™

I can relate to Teh Thread Puppeh.

SiL came over yesterday to help move desktop / studio from living room (where it’s been living “temporarily” for twelve years) to upstairs office. Including a thorough “detailing” of every piece of gear, cabling, power supplies, etc.

Bah!

Desktop’s set-up and functional; waiting for some replacement cables before redoing the wiring. Seem to be getting decent speed via WiFi (was previously hardwired to router).

Living room now appears much larger, in part as “studio” was in front of largest window at CasaK. Need to find a small roll-top or slant-top desk for laptop and associated accessories so they can all be easily “hidden”. (Set-up right now on the table in the “eating area” of kitchen, which is contiguous with LR so Brenda and I can continue usual evening routine of being online in same room and interacting….which we rather like.) πŸ˜‰

Still no word when we may get final payment from large job; Jim and I are seriously irked at the suddenly poor communication with Board. (We have not been informed of any “punch list” items, so it’s a puzzlement. An extremely irritating one.)

BBL.

Good morning boys and girls -- happy Monday, Fatwa. Here’s hoping you guys get paid soon and good luck today, Tex.

I see its Kenosha WI’s turn in the barrel this week. The video of the shooting is making the rounds -- it’s interesting that the cops don’t just swarm the guy physically and beat him to the ground as soon as he disobeys their orders to stop and there’s no context as to why their guns are already out.

Regardless, that city and more are going to burn this week. Their fucking governor does no one any favors with statements like this: β€œWhile we do not have all of the details yet, what we know for certain is that he is not the first Black man or person to have been shot or injured or mercilessly killed at the hands of individuals in law enforcement in our state or our country,” Evers said according to the AP. β€œWe stand with all those who have and continue to demand justice, equity, and accountability for Black lives in our country …”

Happy Hot and Humid Monday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!

Fatwa -- not getting paid sucks, big time. I hope that situation ends soon. Good on you for moving your studio (and getting help with it).

Sven -- sorry that your eye is still giving you problems. I understand being tired with doctors.
In re the Governor of Wisconsin -- I hope the protesters come to his home, soon.

TeX -- I spent part of my growing-up years in coastal Virginia and North Carolina, as well as family visits in Alabama, so I’m familiar with 90+% humidity. I can learn to live with it, but it doesn’t mean I like it.

Hey Gerbils!

Yesterday, After church, me and a friend went to a few houses of widows and did the sacrament for them. It was my second time doing that. Two nice older ladies that I used to see in church all the time, but are now still keeping a low profile and/or have additional health challenges.

Anyway, it was nice to at least do something other than go grocery shopping.

Given how quickly riots break out now, like within hours of an incident, and given the state of digital technology, how how hard would it be produce a fictional police shooting video with all the right elements and broadcast it on social media? Probably not that hard.

That’s a scary thought.

I read that the family of the man killed last night in Kenosha has already retained Benjamin Crump to represent them. That cosks***er POS. He’s worse than Al Sharpton.

The film The Trayvon Hoax hasn’t gotten anywhere near the attention it should have and the DA has chosen to look the other way.

It’s been a day! Work, shopping, walking the dogs, and then running to a nearby wide spot for some more cattle feed.
Phew!

A la Casa K, we have no smart listening devices here. After giving me a s00per quick rundown of a good portion of the programs he uses, he turns and says, “Alexa? Play AC/DC.” And walks out the door.

I practically screeched, “Nooooooooo!” “Alexa? Play Widespread Panic.”
And boom. It was done.
Then again, it’s A LOT easier to fulfill your listening wishlist using someone else’s bandwidth. πŸ™‚ As well as just turn your head and say, “Alexa? Pause, mute, play …” And she can’t follow me home. I think.

But it was good. I’m sure we’ll come up with a good rhythm.

After church, me and a friend went to a few houses of widows and did the sacrament for them.

That had to have been exceedingly nice for them. I’m glad you had the opportunity.

Buh.
I think I’ll sit quietly with the dogs, now.
BIAB.

Hey, TeX!!
It sounds like your first day went well. The closest thing we have to Alexa is the always listening ‘ting on our phones, that we don’t use.

Good on that first day, Tex, but I can’t believe you shut down ACDC.

Watching parts of the RNC convention -- more entertaining and watchable than the DNC effort, although that’s a low bar.
