Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Mmmmm…juicy garbage!

Happy Labor Day, GN.

Glad to see the weather in SoCal has cooled down a bit. especially given that I’d read the ISO issued a Stage 2 alert yesterday.

Yesterday, there were an estimated 4,000 boats on Lake Lanier just a bit north of us supporting Trump. It’s a fairly large lake/reservoir -- ~60 square miles -- and it looks like most of them were the size of bass boats, but that’s still a lot of traffic. (The organizers were expecting about 700 watercraft.)

No word on how many weapons might have been tragically lost. 😉

Good morning, Fatwa -- I hope it cools down further before you have to head back to this hellhole.

Out by us, it seems quite smokey -- can smell it but there’s no sirens or noticeable flames. No fires even close to us that I know of. Weird.

Happy Labor Day, Gerbil Nation! Hug your local yoonyun lackey!
Good morning, Fatwa!

We’ve got the house open this morning to take advantage of the cooler morning. It should be significantly cooler today and only hot this week. Some friends were notified yesterday that they may be part of a rolling power outage, but thankfully it didn’t come to that. Our poor A/C unit was struggling to cool the house below 81°F yesterday. Once the outside temp dropped to the mid-90’s, it was no problem.

Hey, Sven and Paddy!

Out by us, it seems quite smokey…

Hopefully that’s just folks getting “low and slow” meat started. 😉

Hug your local yoonyun lackey!

I think you misspelled “garrotte”.

I blame it on spell check.

Hey, Sven! I didn’t see you come in.
Last night, around dusk, it seemed darker than usual -- it looked smokey, but didn’t smell that way. Same thing this morning. As you say, weird.

Morning GN! Today we go over to the next town because it’s time for new glasses all around. I used walmart last time--it’s been about 4 years. I guess we’ll both try that this time. Except for my sun glasses, it was kind of a waste for me. I got some bifocals which I hardly ever use, because intermediate distances are just as bad with them as without them. I really needed something tuned to about 8 feet and also reading distance. I think I’m going to try progressives this time. That seems like it will be more useful indoors.

A friend of mine got some regular bifocals that were set to about 8 feet and down to reading distance. That would probably be a lot cheaper, but then if I got progressives, I won’t need computer glasses, so I think that would be better. Not sure.

Harper usually uses regular glasses and then takes them off to read. So… She’ll probably stay with that, I guess.

Hi dv8! Good luck with your glasses excursion. I need to get my prescription updated -- maybe this month. I’ve got progressive lenses and rarely have any issue with them, so long as I don’t try looking through the wrong portion for the wrong distance.

This BitChute creator does a pretty good job with her quirky videos.

Here’s one on the Lincoln Project.

My brother up in Santa Clarita said the same thing about the smoke -- no fires in the immediate vicinity, but the air quality is really poor. Red Flag warnings beginning tomorrow for high temps, low humidity, and Santa Ana winds. Another phone call from SoCal Edison to expect our power being shut off tomorrow. Probably time to buy more ice.

I love their voices. Great cover and not over-produced.

It appears all these forward-thinking tech companies don’t really value their employees as much as they say they do and aren’t willing to be as flexible in the face of COVID-19 as they publicly claim -- especially for working parents.
