Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Happy Friday, GN!

That thread puppeh accurately reflects much of my adult life. Not joking.

…especially things like hanging doors.

SiL is definitely handy to have around as he haz mad skilz re most “construction”-type stuff. (He worked for some luxury home builders before he met FTR.)

That said, the new back door, like the new front door we put in years ago, is pre-hung. The original doors on CasaK were developer grade and not very secure; new doors are much more so.

SiL tends to do stuff “for the ages”, much as my Dad did. (Too bad they never had the opportunity to meet.) When he started working at the studios here, it took a while to shift his mindset from “designed and built to last” to “only has to look good on camera and stand until the last frame has been shot”.

Which I reckon he’s done successfully, given he just got a promotion and is now doing more designing / engineering along with building stuff and bossing a small crew. (He was able to go back to work last month; yay!)

Much to do myself; BBL.

Nineteen years -- hard to believe it’s been that long.

Hi, Sven!

Yep…certainly a lot of changes in my life since then. (Fortunately, mostly positive ones.)

Still remember the eerie quiet as flights into BUR stopped and traffic on the 101 largely abated.

And the fury.

Hi, Fatwa.

As horrible as what happened at the Pentagon and in New York, my thoughts always turn towards Flight 93 and Shanksville. Ordinary Americans assessing their situation, weighing their options, and taking action as a group in less than 30 minutes. God bless them.

God bless them.

Indeed.

To this day, the phrase “Let’s roll” brings tears to my eyes and gives me goosebumps

Wonder if the investigation ever determined where the Islamo-animals who hijacked Flight 93 were planning to hit. (If so, I am unaware of their target.)

According to the 9/11 Commission report, the most likely target was the Capitol. From the Flight 93 National Memorial

Two possible Washington targets have been discussed: the White House and the Capitol Building. According to the 9/11 Commission Report, Mohamed Atta, the leader of the 9/11 plot and pilot of Flight 11, met with Ramzi Binalshibh in Spain in July, 2001 to receive final instructions conveyed from Osama bin Laden. Binalshibh, coordinator for the 9/11 plot, and now in U.S. custody, said that Atta understood Bin Ladin’s interest in striking the White House, but Atta said he thought this target too difficult. Atta explained to Binalshibh his plan to have two of the planes hit the World Trade Center, one fly into the Pentagon, and one hit the Capitol Building. If any pilot could not reach his intended target, Atta said, he was to crash the plane. Statements entered at the Moussaoui hearing in April 2006 also indicate that the Capitol Building was the most-likely target for Flight 93. There is also evidence that the date of the attack was chosen to coincide with the return of both the House and Senate to session after the summer break. However, at least one family member has indicated that she was told by the authorities that the plane was destined for the White House.

A Reflective Friday, Gerbil Nation.
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven.

Yes, it’s been 19 years, and we’re still afraid to call out Islamic terrorism when it rears its ugly head. SMH

Sven -- your comments about Flight 93 are spot on.

I read that officials in the Bay Area are warning residents that masks won’t do much to protect against the smoke in the area. Those would be the same masks that are supposed to protect us against a virus that is much, much, much smaller.

Hi, Paddy -- it’s almost like there’s an inconsistency or something.

Former Press Secretary Ari Fleischer is recounting that day moment by moment -- it’s a good look back.

That bastard Trump brokering more peace deals in the middle east trying to get us to forget our outrage over his lying about the Chinese Flu and bad words he said about the military in front of reliable anonymous people years ago.

I was reading a lefty site this morning and a post about 9/11 and it contained this:

“A different leader would find ways to bring the country together in this moment. Instead, the leader we have is doing everything possible to divide us and inflame us. No healing is possible when hate is on the agenda.

The pain I experience about our divided nation feels familiar. I felt it in a tiny hotel room in San Jose, miles from home, mourning the loss of the great and familiar. Back in 2001, I wrote an essay about what I was feeling; the title was “My Heart is Torn.”

My heart is torn again in this horrifying and endless moment. I want to begin healing. Do you think any of us will ever get the chance to do that?”

It’s all bullshit. The left doesn’t want “healing”; they want to win, pure and simple. And for the rest of us to shut up and get in line. Or die.

That’s the Left’s definition of “healing” -- when we all just do what they say or get out of the way (permanently).

Earlier today I watched Trump’s speech at Shanksville. Not a bad speech; not a great speech. What was disappointing is that once again he leaned towards making it about him and not about America -- at least that’s the way I took it when he mentioned the terrorists that were killed under his watch, but couldn’t even throw a bone to Obama for killing bin Laden.

On the other hand, say what you want about him but you can’t discount the man’s energy. He travels to Shanksville, back to DC where he has a press event and announces the agreement between Israel and Bahrain, and then performs a Medal of Honor ceremony. Tomorrow he’s off to Nevada for two campaign events.

Biden, on the other hand, probably has a hard time lacing up his own shoes.

The NFL kicked off their season last night to a ratings drop from 10-15% over last season. Big leftie blowback against the fans in attendance that chose to disrespect by booing the players moment of silence and unity against racial injustice.

Funny how players disrespecting the National Anthem by kneeling, or in former Raider Marshawn Lynch’s case, sitting on a cooler eating a banana, is some brave stand for social justice, but fans booing is just another sign of how racist we are.

Piss on the NFL.
