Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Happy Election Day Eve Monday, Wheelizens!

When I was growing up, we had a wee mutt -- who followed my brother home one February day when he was out running -- who would always attack the vacuum. (We ran ads trying to find the pup’s owner(s) for several weeks and got no responses…so we kept her, as she got along with our other two dogs.) She was a sweet little t’ing and pretty much fearless.

Maaaaaan…I hope that tomorrow’s vote results in a Trump win well in excess of the “margin of cheating”. One can only hope the gubernatorial overreach in states like PA, MI, etc. results in some major “pushback” by the citizenry.

BrendaK and I will certainly do our little part.

It’s gonna be a fugly week regardless of the results, ain’t it?

If Trump loses, I think it will come back to his first debate performance where he tried to beat Biden into the ground instead of taking a more moderate approach. He may have banked on turning that around in Debate 2, but bad timing forced that debate to be cancelled. He’s peaking and moving ahead in the polls the last week, but it could very well be too little/too late, especially with early voting tossed into the mix.

Happy Last Monday before Armageddon, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!

How long will it take to decide the winner of the various election contests? One week? Two weeks? Two months? We’ll keep counting until we get the desired results?

In California, my guess is 4 weeks to get all results. And then the lawsuits will really kick in.

I learned so much from that article, Sven! Thanks!
Hmm, I wonder if it would be okay if I choose to identify Antifa and BLM as nazis, instead of Trump supporters? Do I then have permission to non-violently punch a nazi in the face to support non-violent overthrow of the violent organized protests?

Over the weekend, I had lunch with a friend that I met at teh bestest place ever. He’s from Ireland, mid-30’s and came over to America about 12 years ago. He became an American citizen two years ago. He’s firmly in the WTF camp as to what’s been going on here the last year.

He recounted his citizenship journey, how he wanted to be an American because he believed in our founding principles and ideas and how he studied pretty extensively for his citizenship exam. During the ceremony, the judge first asked everyone to remove their hats -- not all did. He then asked everyone to put down their cell phones -- not everyone did. Apparently there’s a Donald Trump welcome video message for new citizens that was played -- some people booed during that.

He said he was pretty pissed off with these displays of disrespect, that he came to this country to make his way because in America you can make your way. If you think this country sucks so much that you won’t even show common courtesy and respect while becoming a citizen, then what are you even doing here?

Good questions.

I don’t know if this is something…

https://eastcountytoday.net/in-tentative-ruling-court-declares-governors-abuse-of-power-unconstitutional/

“In the tentative ruling, Judge Sarah Heckman declared the Governor’s recent Executive Order N-67-20 unconstitutional. More importantly, Judge Heckman’s tentative ruling places a permanent injunction against the Governor which prevents him from unilaterally making or changing state law moving forward.”

Take that, Newsom!

Yep, it’s something!

Gavin Newsom, in his official capacity as Governor of the State of California is enjoined and prohibited from exercising any power under the California Emergency Services Act (Government Code $ 8550 et seq.) which amends, alters, or changes existing statutory law or makes new statutory law or legislative policy.
