Happy All-Knowing Sheep Tuesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa!

I see the M.O. had a Plague Fairy and Mac sighting!

One of our students was hospitalized last week on a 5150 hold. I called the family yesterday to see how things were going and learned that in spite of needing further hospitalization, she was being treated at home. It seems there aren’t enough adolescent psych beds available for the current need. So yeah, let’s keep our kids at home, locked up and separated from their friends and social outlets. I’m sure it will all be just fine.

It’s December, baby! Good morning Fatwa and Paddy!

Sorry to hear about your student, Paddy -- hope she stabilizes and recovers.

Good morning, Sven, Paddy’O and Fatwa! It was great to see Gentle Mac popped in last night.

I don’t trust that sheep. It looks like it might know exactly where a pie is and is secure in the knowledge that no one else does. BAA RAM EWE, I say!

Paddy, I’m very sorry about your student. It’s tragic. My nephew and his wife adopted three older, mentally ill brothers. Living in Anaheim, suddenly cutting of access to their therapists and schools has had a devastating effect on the eldest two. And, as you say, there were no beds open for the children in the psychiatric wards. The oldest was finally taken into a makeshift room in a facility until he could be stabilized somewhat. The thing is, my family has enough adults that they’ve been able to fly out and stay in shifts so there are two of them with the oldest all the time, one with middle boy, and two to act as floaters to be with the youngest who does pretty well and to cook and run the household. When I think of what most families in this situation are facing without this kind of extraordinary support I just shudder and get on my knees again. My nephew chose this but for most it’s just about the worst thing a parent can face, I think. I won’t start on what I think about locking down the healthy in our population. I haven’t scorched this new tablet, yet, and it’s so pretty and pristine.

Hi Plaguie!

I’m really sorry to hear about your nephew’s kids. If they are in school and have IEP’s, then the school must provide the services listed on the IEP. Those kids need therapy and should be getting it, lockdown or no lockdown.

If they need any help navigating the system, I’d be more than happy to help.
