I guess we’re going over the river and through the woods tomorrow. Going down to the Big City to see Mom.

Internet quit working yesterday evening after a long stream. Did a small stream today using my phone on USB tether. 400k upstream is very blocky. 200k for video, 160k for sound and 40k for overhead so you don’t drop any frames. 400 upstream is all my phone is permitted up here. you can kind of improve it by doing like 10 frames / sec (which I didn’t do) but it improves the picture quite a lot at the expense of a smooth framerate.

Anyway, I should be asleep, but I just contacted the automated chatbot at the cable company, and managed to get the internet up and running again.

So… once less thing to worry about.

Happy Easter, GN!

dv8 --

Glad you were able to get your intertoobz sorted. Safe journey to you and Harper!

Here at CasaK, Charter Spectrum’s service goes T.U. rather more often than we’d like. Usually on dry, sunny days, which is a real puzzlement.

I wish the marketing folks at certain companies understood that, when customers are on hold for tech support due to a complete absence of service, shitty, too-loud and oft-distorted music interspersed with smarmy promos for all of the other services they offer (which would also be out) may not be an effective sales tool.

I wonder how many windows they took out, along with the stump?

Paddy --

It appeared none, which -- given the size of the kablooey -- is a bit surprising. I didn’t even see anyone come out of their homes to see WTF had happened. (Although there’s a mature tree line between us and the subdivision behind us which is budding at a furious rate, so our view was blocked a lot more than even a week ago.)

It was also kind o’ cold (37ºF) at the time, which may have contributed to the lack of visible curiosity.

A blessed Easter, Gerbil Nation! He is risen!
Good morning, dv8, Fatwa, and Sven!

dv8 -- safe travels to you and Miss Harper.

Yesterday I moved my office from a corner of the dining room to Teh Younger’s old room. The computers are set up, but I still have to move over all the carp that was on my desk. Guess it’s time for some spring cleaning.

We’re having the family over for an early dinner. I’m going to cook up lamb burgers with roasted red peppers, roasted garlic aioli, feta, arugula, and pickled red onions. We’ll see how it goes.

That sound sounds like a good Easter meal, Paddy. On our end, we have my brother and his wife and maybe one friend coming by. Main course will be scampi and pasta and the main appetizer is a Bohemian meatloaf that my mother used to make -- sekanice. First time I’ve made it and she didn’t leave behind a recipe so relying on the intertubes. Mrs Sven is working on an apple pie for dessert.

I had to look up sekanice. The first recipe I came across called for an entire pork shoulder roast, an entire veal shoulder roast, and 48 eggs. It sounds good, but I hope you found a smaller recipe.

Two pounds of veal shoulder, one pound of pork shoulder, and a dozen eggs along with 6 slices of bread soaked in liquid. It came out OK, but it’s missing something -- came out bland.

I read that it calls for lots of garlic.
