My webcam fails when I don’t turn it on and use it. That action creates inertia which causes me not to stream, or in fact, do anything at all except work and sleep. It’s a vicious cycle.

Here’s hoping I can get myself to church today. Just getting out would probably help me.

I hope all you Gerbils and your loved ones are doing well.

A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8!

Inertia can, indeed, be a problem. Sometimes the solution is just to create a habit of motion. I’m working on breaking a couple of habits I’ve acquired over the year of COVID and replacing them with healthier ones.

I really need to do that.

So yesterday, I canceled the missionaries’ dinner. I found out that there was going to be three of them--which was no problem. We were going to have Chicken and Waffles, and country gravy.

But I was told at the last minute that one of the sisters had what was described as a “severe peanut allergy.”

Well….

We’re just not equipped to handle such things. And… I cook with peanut oil a lot. and I just recently spilled a cup or so of peanut oil all over my kitchen cabinets. So one of those peanut allergy type people could die just breathing the air in our house, as far as I know.

So, I told them to go eat somewhere in sterile conditions (I didn’t really tell them that.)

: )….

But It just seemed too risky even if I were to go through all my ingredients for dinner.

So, I went back to bed. And later, I made the whole dinner, albeit not nearly as much as I had planned, and Harper and I ate it late last night.

It was quite good. I feel bad about the missionaries, but when we were making our plans together, they should probably have led with the peanut thing so I could have told them to either make other plans, or else describe the nature and severity of the allergy so we could determine if something could be worked out.

I just didn’t feel comfortable with the idea that I might inadvertently kill a teenage girl with my chicken, waffles, gravy, and/or other dinner stuff.

Good morning -- happy Sunday, boys.

Dv8: I offer this in all sincerity and humbleness.

You are in a bit of a funk -- to some extent we all are. That’s understandable considering what’s been going on the last year, what’s been forced on our society not just from covid and isolation, but from SJWs running amok. What you are feeling is what all of us are feeling. You are definitely not alone in this.

There’s a simple fix to start getting yourself back to a more balanced sense of self. Simple, but difficult to embrace and put into action. You have to make yourself do things, especially some of those things that make you uncomfortable.

And I’ve said this before: you need to make and take small wins. No matter insignificant they may seem.

You are a religious man. You know that God loves you. Ask Him for hep. I came across a prayer one time, and one that I use at difficult moments, that started out with “Heavenly Father, one that You love is in pain and needs Your guidance and help.” Give it a try.

Pray and action -- that’s my advice.

Pray and action — that’s my advice.

Sometimes the easiest advice is hard to implement. We did make it to church today. They started having the Sunday School hour again, so we stayed for that.

This is definitely a keeper line.

I just didn’t feel comfortable with the idea that I might inadvertently kill a teenage girl with my chicken, waffles, gravy, and/or other dinner stuff.

The original Miller decision (1939?) as I recall, implied or stated directly that the Second Amendment only applied to military-style weapons and in that case, a sawed-off shotgun wasn’t a military weapon and therefore not protected by the 2A. Something that the anti-2A crowd overlooks when they cry over “weapons of war” in civilian hands.

This judge’s ruling in this case is a model of simplicity. “As applied to AWCA, the Heller test asks: is a modern rifle commonly owned by law-abiding citizens for a lawful purpose? For the AR-15 type rifle the answer is “yes.” The overwhelming majority of citizens who own and keep the popular AR-15 rifle and its many variants do so for lawful purposes, including self-defense at home. Under Heller, that is all that is needed. Using the easy to understand Heller test, it is obvious that the California assault weapon ban is unconstitutional. Under the Hellertest, judicial review can end right here.”
