Yes, we are living in the age of thin skin and perpetual sensitivity. It’s making me weary.
Out here in our little piece of SoCal paradise, the wind will blow tomorrow so we have been advised by our electricity provider that our power could be shut off.
Speaking of sensitivity and racism, the Raiders head coach, Jon Gruden, is in a heap of trouble for something he wrote in an email 10 years ago. The offending language: “Dumboriss Smith has lips the size of michellin tires.”
One response to this horrific action: “The insensitive remarks made by Jon Gruden about DeMaurice Smith are indicative of the racism that exist[s] on many levels of professional sports,” Rod Graves, the executive director of the Fritz Pollard Alliance, said in a written statement. “Furthermore, it reveals that the journey for African Americans and other minorities in sports, is riddled with irrepressible mindsets at the highest level. It is our hope that the League and team ownership will address this matter with a remedy commensurate with these painful words. This is yet another inflection point in a society fraught with cynical social blinders, absent of respect for the intellectual capacity and leadership of minorities. When will it end?”
Hope tomorrow’s wind isn’t severe enough to cause loss of power at teh Mountain Redoubt.
Our power goes off rather more often than I like in the rain…even drizzles. It’s ridiculous in 2021 that normal weather is now an issue regarding reliable electric power.
If only electricity was considered “infrastructure”.

A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
Fatwa -- I think open mockery is the best way to handle these idiots. We know that facts and logic won’t sway them and any attempt at rational discussion leads to cries of racism and a whole host of phobias. I say point and laugh -- openly and loudly.
I didn’t want to go. I hadn’t had enough sleep. I’m not at my best at such times. We managed to get there early enough to set up the Zoom meeting for the first hour session.
Harper was falling asleep by the end of the first hour, so we didn’t stay for the second hour. For which I was grateful. We managed to get a few hours more sleep before the missionaries arrived.
I promised them my Great Grandmother’s Potato Soup recipe. Which I realized I’d been meaning to post here. So I’ll remedy that soon.
Sunday greetin’s, GN!
Just read the article Sven linked yesterday re bigotry in birding; IMO, when everything is problematic, nothing is.
If sarcasm and mockery now equate to violence, I’m one of history’s greatest monsters.
I’m perfectly fine with that.
Which proves what a vile, despicable piece of human filth I am.

“Thank you for attending my TED talk.”

Not much on tap today --

Our dinner with the Missionary sisters was nice.
Hope everyone had a nice Sunday.
Harper made it to Church with me today.
