Teh Squeaky Wheel
I thought Halloween was last Sunday; that’s a scary thread pic, Mac.
dv8 and Paddy --
Cheers for the kind words re the song parody. (Did that a few years back for my teensy cadre of Tweeps.)
Glad Linux Rob made it back and hope he has a nice vaycay / visit.
Learned this morning that another musician I greatly admired -- jazz guitarist Pat Martino -- died on Monday. Among other things, he intimidated a young George Benson (who is no slouch as a straight jazzer himself) when a young Benson heard him in NYC.
Martino started recording in the late ’60s and was fairly prolific. In 1980, he had a near-fatal seizure, which left him with amnesia and no recollection of his career or how to play the guitar. Yet he managed to relearn and became an even better player.
In addition, he was a phenomenal teacher, was generous in sharing his musical knowledge and reputedly an all-around truly decent human being.
Because it’s Caturday:
RIP Pat Martino.
We’ve lost so many greats in the last several years.
Linux Rob is a rather odd duck. And keep in mind, that’s ME saying that.
I don’t know what will befall him in the months and years to come. He has made a pretty good go of life considering the challenges he has had. Of course he also has a great many gifts/talents/abilities.
I worry about him so much, and wish I could help him reach his true potential. Of course, as hard as that sounds, it’s much easier than trying to reach my own true potential : )
He really is a mathematical prodigy and should really be working for some think tank or math institute or something. Even though he’s an excellent programmer, there is so much more he could be doing.
Happy Saturday, GN -- good morning, Fatwa, and Dv8.
Happy Full Moon Caturday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, dv8 (and Harper!), and Sven!
dv8 -- as you said, it’s easier to try to help someone else, than to fix yourself. Good on you for caring.
Good afternoon -- it’s good that we get back the hour tonight they stole from us 6 months ago. I wish they’d just stop this bs with changing the clocks and let us adjust to the natural rhythms of the seasons.
Read the news reports of that concert tragedy down in Houston. Terrible.
Not much going on this weekend -- nothing to brag about anyways.
At least we don’t do the clock thing here in AZ
Getting an extra hour in 2021 is like getting a bonus track on a Yoko Ono album.
Reviewed some more of the Rittenhouse trial yesterday -- I just don’t understand the state’s case. They may be banking on a sympathetic jury ala George Floyd, but many elements of that situation are lacking in this case like all the victims being white, not a police shooting, and no violent riots in support of the victims. It’s truly baffling.
