Regarding CA’s hate reporting -- I will submit some reports just to muddy their waters, but not to target anyone unless I was to be targeted first -- an unlikely event as I’m very tolerant, friendly, and love everyone. The 3%er adage of never firing the first shot.
False allegations can destroy a person, no doubt about that. It’s a stupid effort on the part of California, but right now it’s an anonymous reporting tool -- a feel good thing. That could change in the future, this being CA and all.
like… really… it frustrates me to think that any day, you can win the negative lottery and go to jail for defending yourself. Or just be accused and have your life ruined for no reason at all.
Like that guy in NYC who may have already been arrested. I’m NOT donating to his legal defense fund. He’s been warned plenty, and has been knowingly living in NYC for a long time. He had plenty of time to leave that place.
That’s a Bona Fide Blue state situation right there.
I think I was trying not to think about it. All my warnings and concerns were not effective.
But, I would literally be worth $50M bucks right now, if I listened to reason. I am just the same as anyone else, really. I’m just lucky that situations forced me out of Portland when they did.
Watched some of Trump’s CNN appearance. I wouldn’t have a problem with the host’s factchecks and interruptions if it were applied equally to the other side, but of course it won’t be.
Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8 (and Harper!), and Sven!
Of course we all know that certain groups will employ squads of people to file false reports of “hate incidents” to skew the data in their preferred direction. The question is, will our side do the same and render the whole thing worthless? Probably not.
we could ALL move to new hampshire, or something? Or somewhere warmer. But I have been following the Free State project in NH for about 20 years. They are actually having a great amount of success changing the political makeup of NH.
RN, everyone is talking about Florida, but It could very well be that NH is better.
When parents don’t respond to repeated attempts to schedule required meetings, we’ll send them a letter offering three dates and times, asking them to pick one, or offer alternatives, and explaining that if they don’t respond, we’ll hold the meeting on the last date, with or without them. If the parent shows up to the first or second meeting date, then the remaining invitations are canceled and disappear from the individuals’ calendars.
Or at least that’s what’s supposed to happen. I was the only one in a meeting this morning until I was able to get a hold of the case manager. “Oh, we held that meeting yesterday.” Thanks for letting me know.
I read that NY is charging the white guy who restrained the threatening black guy on the subway train with manslaughter. What bullshit. They could not have performed a complete autopsy, including drugs, this quickly to determine actual cause of death. The only thing that surprises me is that they have yet to charge the other two passengers that helped restrain this guy.
They really really really want another St. George Floyd.
Yes. And my point is, he’s not getting $5 from me. He knew where he was living. He was okay with it. And He thought he’d probably BE okay. Just like you two Californians do.
I’ve been so worried about both of you. I feel like you’re so used to living there you don’t REALLY see what is happening around you.
The same was true for me, honestly. Once I get to AZ, there weren’t just a few differences. EVERYTHING was different. The LEAST of which was I wouldn’t go to jail for defending myself. It was everything.
And I feel like NH would be even more of that. I’m not sure about the weather there, though. It gets a bit colder than Portland. The whole state is about the same weather wise, except for one mountain region in the middle of the state where things are much colder.
You can call Arizona red, but your Governor, Secretary of State, and AG are all Dems. Your senate and house are pretty much evenly divided between Repubs and Dems; both of your US Senators are Dems and in 2020 AZ went for Biden. Your largest city, Phoenix, seems pretty blue as does Tucson.
Does it matter if you live in a red state if your county or city are solidly blue?
That’s a good point. You can only run so far. That’s why I’m considering NH, also.
If we were both younger and healthier, I’d consider Hungary where they actually have outlawed communism--although there are problems there too. I still think the USA is the best. Somewhere in the USA. Small towns like here, or county areas that are always going to be politically red.
There is always hope!
Thanks to Pandora.

what are we talkin’ here?
Hi, Dv8 -- good morning, GN.
Regarding CA’s hate reporting -- I will submit some reports just to muddy their waters, but not to target anyone unless I was to be targeted first -- an unlikely event as I’m very tolerant, friendly, and love everyone. The 3%er adage of never firing the first shot.
I understand. I’m more afraid of what will happen when someone accuses you.
False allegations can destroy a person, no doubt about that. It’s a stupid effort on the part of California, but right now it’s an anonymous reporting tool -- a feel good thing. That could change in the future, this being CA and all.
This is literally what they had in China since the middle of the 20th century. Anonymous reporting.

Speaking of which, at some point this month I owe my attorney another $12,500.
FFS. I’m sorry about this mess you’ve been dragged back into.
Right. You’re actually IN one of these situations. Horrible.
That’s a Bona Fide Blue state situation right there.

My point is: Are you too used to it? Is it long past time to relocate to a red state?

It’s interesting, no?
At the moment, we’re staying because of family. We’ll see what happens.

That sucks. But it’s pretty low on the “suck” scale compared to what else we have been talking about in the last couple of days.
That’s very true. This is just a minor, day-to-day annoyance that is rooted in the little things of life.
