Septic tank got pumped yesterday -- let it go too long this time and the tank was darn near full. Should get a quote on risers today and I’m hoping that they can install this week.
I took my truck in yesterday to get some bodywork done and have it repainted. Do I need to do it? No, but I want to -- it’s been a good truck these last 18 years and no reason why it shouldn’t look better.
When I was a kid and going to community college, I worked at a body shop in the SFV. I did prep work -- washing, sanding, and masking prior to paint. Their main business was cleaning up work/ranch trucks -- pickups that had been driven hard but that had low mileage -- they also had a few other commercial accounts and the usual insurance business.
My mechanic recommended a body shop that had the same name as the place where I worked 45 years ago, but in a different location -- out here in Ventura County. I took it in last week for a quote and guess what? The owner now is the same painter that I worked with in the 70’s. He took over the business in the 90’s and has been running it since. I honestly didn’t remember him and he didn’t remember me, but we got to talking about those days and the people there and caught up on what happened to them. When I dropped my truck off he took me for a tour of the shop -- he’s done good and the shop now is quite a bit better than what it used to be.
Brought back some good memories and it’s wonderful to see that this guy has done as well as he has -- a lot of hard work on his part.
When I got up this morning, Tatum was sleeping in a chair in my office. He’s now gotten up and moved to guarding his water pitcher in the bathroom. I don’t think he trusts me.
Happy (checks calendar) Tuesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, and Mac!
Sven -- I’m glad you got your septic system pumped out in time. I hope the quote on the risers is reasonable.
Mac -- I hope Elena and her family are doing okay.
I got a bid from a plumber I can trust to replace the angle stops and supply lines for the laundry sink at my MiL’s. $160 for the labor and he’s going to install quarter-turn valves and braided stainless steel supply lines. I’ll gladly pay $160 to not have to climb under the sink with a basin wrench and deal with crusty connections.
The Cult is my work soundtrack today. I remember the first time I heard this song, like 1986 or so -- it’s great to see them still performing and I love it when the crowd is into it and knows every word.
Tuesday, eh? Well, good morning anyhow. My wish list today:
I did get very good rest today!

What a small world! I’m glad the new owner is doing well.

You have been very chummy with the coons.
That’s only because I celebrate diversity.

well….
Wanna say positive things.
Hard to do even when a few good things happen.
I think I might be traumatized.
Okay… so there’s a bit of tongue in the cheek there.
I’m fine.
Praying for all of you.
Hi, dv8 (and Harper!)!
I hope you both are doing well.
Why not make a youtube channel on something you like? Then it wouldn’t be so much like work?
Ironically… If I made a dreadlock channel on youtube I could probably at least replace my job income in about a year.
but I don’t wanna.
(If I periodically included a leftist talking point in passing, I could probably do it in 6 months.)
