For me, voting for Trump comes down to one thing: all the right people hate him, lie about him, have tried to ruin him, imprison him, and kill him. It isn’t always true that the enemy of my enemy is my friend, but it is in this case.
Good morning, Sven. I am sure it will be quite a day. I expect massive cheating at all levels, as they are desperate to get the Senate, whatever way the top race goes.
Hi, Mac. You would think that anyone in govt that bemoans how little respect Americans have for govt institutions would recognize election integrity as something that needs to be addressed. That would assume tho that they actually cared about regaining trust in what they do.
Happy Election Day, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, and Mac!
Sven -- I heard that Megyn Kelly was going to appear at Trump’s rally, but hadn’t seen the speech. Thanks for sharing!
Mac -- I suspect you are right. We’ve already seen lots of cheating, from efforts to require non-citizens to remain on the voter rolls to paying social media influencers to post about why they are voting for Kamala and not Trump (while hiding the fact that their posts are in fact and in law, election ads).
On her podcast earlier yesterday, she laid out in good detail why not to vote for Harris -- including the abortion issue. I wish Trump had hammered home these points as succinctly as she did in any one of his rallies.
Just got our Public Safety Power Outage alert from SoCal Edison. Late tonight through Thursday morning. Text, email, and a phone call.
Hmmmm. If the weather service can be believed, this could be quite an event, altho only for about 36 hours. 50-70 mph gusts and steady 30 mph winds. Loss of power could be the least of our problems.
We are both following it. Elena is excited and finds the reactions of the Spanish language commentators quite amusing. They are NOT happy. I am following on the Fox website. I can not stand listening to news people or politicians. I tried to watch one short video report and had to turn it off. I have no patience for people talking over each other. It seems so unprofessional but it seems EVERYONE does it now. I can’t stand it, never could.
I’ve been bouncing around between conservative podcast/online coverage and cable news. It seems that the consensus is that Trump will win, but no one seems jubilant over that -- like it’s still up in the air. On the leftist side, there’s that shocked/resigned look. But until they call it I’m not sure and then there’s the follow up bs with outstanding ballots to be counted and legal challenges.
However it goes, Trump has remade the GOP again and expanded its base.
Yes, we keep trying to remember that they have not done the heavy cheating yet, but I think they need close races, under 1%, to do a recount, and Trump is leading over 2% in the important states. It looks like Pennsylvania is safe, and that will leave him needing only 3 more EVs. I think the margins are enough to make recounts hard to justify. I think they would need hundreds of thousands of votes, hard to do. I hope I am not being overly optimistic here. Like you I am not assuming it is in the bag until they concede, and even then they could pull a Gore. It will be interesting tomorrow.
And away we go. Happy Election Day, GN!!!
This wasn’t on my bingo card.

Mrs Sven was on an international work call -- there’s much interest in our election in Europe.

I think Fatwa might have liked this one.
Yeah, he would, Mac.
Exactly!!!
Well, we turned our friend in Texas to the dark side. She just texted:
Home from the bar and voting…not in that order. No idea where this thing is going to go.

But tonight we dance and tomorrow we taste their tears.
YES!!!
I am looking forward to the wailing and whining.
Good night, Mac -- my best to you and Elena.
Thank you, Sir. Sleep well!
