Good morning, Gerbil Nation!
TeX! It’s good to “see” you again! Those are quite the adventures you’ve been having! Let us know how the rest of the training goes.
For the next two days all sophomores will take the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE) -- the English Language portion today and the math portion tomorrow. For me that means six hours (or more -- it’s not a timed test) of sitting and watching students take a test.
Tuesday salutations from moulding-priming-and-painting, Happy Larryville, GN!
Currently working on the library trim: rosettes, pediments and fluted. Up next: crown and base for both the library bookcases and office. Window trim in the office came out okay; teh yay for painter’s tape! (Still have to do the door mouldings in there…plus install the floor. But I remain happy with the wall/ceiling color, which is a true goodness after all of teh color FAILs.)

Indeed. (And I shall manfully refrain from asking snarky questions about the Citizen’s Academy training.) 😉

Maaaaaaan…all of the politicians who are floating various tax schemes / restrictions re guns and ammo ought to be met with angry mobs toting tar, feathers and rails. (Not kidding…those control-freak goons need to have the hell scared out of them for their attempted subversion of natural rights.)

I totally get that. I don’t think much of the Chief -- nice enough guy, but he’s a politician who doesn’t know much more than what’s between the covers of the latest Stephen Covey book, and that kind of crap annoys the hell out of me.
One-on-one, the officers themselves are stand-up guys. Before the last class, the K-9 officer I was speaking with, I’d have bet 100 quatloos he’d be one of those guys that snaps in a split second -- based on my first impression of him.
I spent probably 45 minutes talking with him in the parking lot after class last week and have completely revised that impression.
I think because this is a small town AND they can afford to live in the community they serve, their overall perspective is different. Same with the sheriffs and troopers.
It’s good that your local LEOs apparently have a better perspective regarding “civilians” (Gawd, I so hate when they use that term) than those anywhere I’ve lived.
So is properly painting detailed trim, at least for me ’cause it’s not something I’ve done much of. (And I’d hate for all of the detail in the fluting, rosettes, etc. to get filled-in with primer and paint; kind of defeats the purpose.)
Colorado’s Senate passed every gun control bill in front of them yesterday. Can it really be true that CO has been boned by the liberal Californians that moved there?
A friend of mine moved to Colorado in the mid-70’s. The rallying cry at the time was “Don’t Californicate Colorado”. I guess the California liberals couldn’t be bothered to use a condom.

Paddy, was looking up Latin Conventions; your event is with the CA Junior Classical League?
Yes, it is, Sven.
Interesting training, X. Can’t hurt and good training/experience.
Fatwa-sounds like you are quite the busy Jooooo. You’ll need to send pictures out when you get done.
Hey…”craftiness” is pretty time-intensive.
