I was tickled to read about your father’s 1911; it’s terrific you’re both pleased with the quality of work done on it and the way it shoots. Teh yay!
And another cute thread GIF, too.
=================
The DeKalb County, GA Sheriff’s office had a bad week PR-wise. Yesterday afternoon, one of their cars caused a traffic snafu on I-285:
All lanes of I-285 westbound near Chamblee-Tucker Road were blocked and traffic was tied up for about two hours as fire crews rushed to the burning cruiser about 3 p.m., said Alisa Jackson, DeKalb fire spokeswoman.
Complicating matters: ammunition inside the cruiser discharged under the fire’s heat, Jackson said.
Now, perhaps this vehicle burst into flames quite quickly. But you’d think that a “public safety official” would try to remove live ammo if at all possible under those circumstances.
However, I tend to think the worst about DeKalb’s deputies, in-part based upon a video which came out this week. This is no way to serve a warrant for an unpaid civil fine…at 1:30 a.m. (Save for having badges, a union and a dental plan, it’s pretty hard to differentiate these animals from thugs.)
Good Caturday evening, Gerbil Nation!
Teh Younger is safely ensconced in his dorm room, his first class has already begun (freshmen take a 3-week class before the upper-classmen arrive), and Mrs. Paddy and I have arrived at a lovely, old-style hotel in Naples. Florida, not Italy. Otherwise I would have said Napoli.
It’s awesome the new sights work so well for you, Mac. Plus, from what you wrote last night it seems likely that after the next round of work, that 1911 ought to happily shoot anything you feed it.
Nice that it still fits the holster, too. Is it one you’d find practical to actually wear?
Probably not for anything serious. It is alright for just packing the gun while fishing or hiking as my father did but it should really be stiffer along the back for faster work. I have a Blackhawk holster that would be better for serious use, and in any case I will not likely ever carry this.
Happy Caturday, GN!

Hope you and Mrs. Paddy have a lovely “getaway”. (And mind the giant mosquitoes.)
Enjoy a little holiday, Paddy.
I almost forgot about this holster my father made. You can see it had considerable use. It fits well, even with the taller sights.
A better sight picture with the new sights.

I think I also have an old GI flap type holster he used before he made this.
I have some long johns with a flap.
Does it cover your pistol?
*Shakes fist*
You’ve won this round, Mac!
Hope that you, Elena and the rest of the family are coping as well as possible.
And that you have a quiet evening.
Thank you, Sir. It is nice to have Elena home at night again.
