Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Greetings from partly-overcast yet Happy Larryville, GN!

Maaaaaaan, Mac…I dunno how you keep finding such wonderfully off thread GIFs!

=================

While the LAX shooter -- Paul Ciancia -- likely has some, ah, issues, I must confess that his targeting of TSA goons bothered me hardly at all given the way its “officers” consistently treated Mom during her last decade. Chalk it up to my vengeful Bad Gerbil™ tendencies.

Of course that cat learned to eat with a fork; it took one look at the leopard skin its owner was wearing and said fine, whatever stupid tricks you want me to do, I’m onboard.

Reading an LA Times article on the shooting at LAX. It contains these grammatical gems:

“Another law enforcement source said the note contained the the betters “NWO.””

“One resident of the apartment complex said a large group of police officers detailed or arrest a man at the location earlier in the day.”

“Ciancia grew up in on a wooded street in Pennsville Township, about a mile from his father’s prosperous auto body shop.”

Copy editor, please.

Hiya, Paddy and Sven!

freedom french “Not approved by either Moochelle or the Let’s Move program” toast …

FTFY.

It contains these grammatical gems:

I thought only pajama-clad losers seated in their living rooms committed “not-real journalism”. 😉

Now THAT”S a good picture. Almost as good as the one with Sebelius and her web sites for dummies book.

And good morning everybody!

Via Ace’s place, here’s a band -- which I quite like after listening to a few of their tunes -- I’d never heard of before. Per Wikipedia:

Here Come the Mummies is a Funk/R&B band, best known for their live performances in which band members perform in full mummy attire bandages. It consists of various professional musicians based in Nashville, Tennessee. There are rumored to be several Grammy awards among the members, though this is difficult to verify, as the identities of band members are kept “under wraps.” Members are believed to be under contract to various record labels, hiding their identities so as to prevent contract disputes while performing.

I also really like their “Cow Belt”. GN, I give you Here Come The Mummies performing “Funky Little Baby” (Warning: slightly NSFW due to risqué lyrics.)

Thoroughly enjoyable, Fatwa! I really liked the trumpet player. Of course couldn’t we all use a little more “cow belt”?

“There is a defense known as “outrageous government conduct,” which (as the opinion notes) requires truly outrageous action. Here, BATF hired an informant to cruise the tougher bars and try to recruit people to stage a home invasion of a mythical drug stash house full of a mythical amount of cocaine. Once he recruited a team, they were arrested for conspiracy to possess cocaine for purpose of sale, and for conspiracy to use a firearm in a drug transaction. They were convicted and appeal.”

“The court split 2-1. The majority finds this is not sufficiently outrageous.”

Clocks roll back an hour tonight; I wonder how healthcare.gov will handle that? Likely as another unexpected glitch which no one could have foreseen and it’s Bush’s fault anyhow.

They’ll handle it the same way they handle everything else: 404.

Wonder how many times the hub’s crashed today. 😉

I made my first screen-cast today and uploaded it to youtube for my students. I sure hope the process gets easier the more I do it! I’m limiting myself to 10 minutes of video and the first take hit 15 minutes before I was through -- cut! take two! The next take was completed in 8:16, but it felt like I was flying through the material. We’ll see how the kids respond.
