A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
It’s winter in SoCal, break out the shorts and sunscreen.
I’m taking Teh Older and Teh Younger out to lunch after church, then my MIL is coming over for dinner tonight. I need to pick up some meat for the grill and stop by TJ’s for gnocchi with gorgonzola cream sauce.
Yup…I went straight to the bottom of The Archies’ barrel and did their “top single of the year 1969”.
Hey -- it’s what I do; it’s who I am.
And I’m currently working on a Monkees tune (although not sure I can pull this particular one off, in which case I’ll recycle another of their tunes from the L.A. band project).
Haven’t heard that tune in about 45 years; thanks, Paddy. (If I’m lucky, it’ll be another 45.) 😉
Started working on “Pleasant Valley Sunday” earlier today but haven’t found the right groove for it yet; might not be doable. Fallback is “Steppin’ Stone” from the L.A. band with some very Brecker Brothers-sounding horn parts (which will need to be revised for the two additional horns / different instrumentation.)
I figure I’ll spend another 2-4 hours on “PVS”; if I can’t sort it out, I’ll go to plan B.
Need to get another dozen arrangements done ASAP so I can begin looking for co-conspirators; I’d really like to be able to debut this project in the fall, which means weekly rehearsals need to start in April or early May. Oy!

Good morning, Paddy.
And happy Sunday everyone! Over here, the temperature has dropped a bit, but it’s still quite warm and dry, no wind tho.
G’day from Happy Larryville, GN!
Hai Paddy and Sven; enjoy teh warm weather out there. (Wish ours would warm up about ten degrees…)

Is that Wilhelm Furtwängler conducting Der Schauspiderdirektor in teh thread GIF? 😉
I may have sunk to a new low re source music for the new band; can you say “The Archies”??!? I knew you could.
Hey…what’s life without some self-appointed challenges? 😉
The Archies!?!
Singing “You make me wanna [hurl]”

The Monkees? May I suggest this one?

Well, if you liked “Zor and Zam”, here’s another that’s sure to be a hit:
Can I be included in the liner notes?
