Sure Happy It’s Thursday, GN!

I think I’ve seen that expression on a certain Gerbil’s face.

Maaaaaan…I really need to remember to unplug my webcam when I’m not using it; tarnation!!brrraaaaap!1

Local PETA moron wants monument for chickens killed in overturned truck incident:

“Although a relative of the deceased is usually required to fulfill requests for roadside memorials, I hope you will allow a concerned citizen such as me to suffice in this case,” Sarah Segal of Atlanta wrote in her application to GDOT. “These chickens, who spent their entire short lives … on a factory farm before their agonizing deaths, have no known living relatives.”

Segal said in a letter to GDOT that she was “writing as a Georgia resident to ask that you permit me to place a 10-foot tombstone memorial for one month on the right-of-way of U.S. 129 to commemorate the lives lost in this deadly crash.”

I think a deep fryer-themed monument would be more appropriate, but hey…that’s just me.

TeX --

I hope you vexed some politi-tools™ last night.

We are currently having a “light dusting” of snow. Wind chill at zero.
Glad that I did my outside errands yesterday.
I think I hear the electric blanket calling my name for a mornin’ nap.
Have a Jerrie-ific day.

Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, FrozenRabBiT and FlatulentFatwa!

I’d love to see video of TeX’s candidate take-down. That would make compelling TV, and others just might learn something from it.

Good morning EveryGerbillyBody from the totally unexpected icy precipitated Central SE Texas prairie!

I hope you vexed some politi-tools™ last night.

I did, but not the ones I intended (I’ll get to that in a minute).

It was a very structured event, and VERY contentious for the County Court at Law position. Jeebus, the incumbent took EVERYTHING as a shot across his bow and was defensive answering every damned question.

And, and, AND he’s in clear violation of election law. He’s said in the paper, on radio, on FB -- fvckin’ everywhere that instead of donating to his campaign, donate to [I can’t remember the name of the charity]. One gal quoted the ethics code, you can’t NAME a specific charity -- it’s soliciting, and against the code AND the law. And the guy doubled-down when called on it.

The gentleman challenging him in the race said it after the gal quoted the code, “The code is written in clear language, I don’t know how any sensible person can’t see he’s in violation of it.” The incumbent came back up and said, “All I said was….”
Everyone in the room is thinking, “d00d, seriously?! No matter how many different ways you try to phrase it, you’re STILL wrong.”

That challenger was surrounded and verbally attacked by the incumbent’s ENTIRE family after the forum was over. I was already casting my vote for the challenger to begin with -- the incumbent sure as sh¡t made it clear that’s a wise decision on my part. Kee-rist.

I did get my question to the candidates for Precinct 4 JP which was this (since only one’s an attorney): “What in your life experience has given you the discernment necessary for this position?”

The attorney kept saying it’s all black and white -- it’s the LAW!

The gal, who has pretty much come out of nowhere, although she’s putatively been in the county for 30 years (the party vice-chair doesn’t know her and she knows EVERYBODY -- same with my Fire Chief), should have looked up the word “discernment” because she clearly had *0* clue what it meant. I don’t even know what the hell she said.

The gentleman who’s retiring from banking said it’s not all black and white, there are people involved and possible exigent circumstances, and you have to know how to read people in order to make the best decisions on a case-by-case basis.

The JPs only deal with the lowest-class misdemeanors and occasional death-calls (accidents, etc). I think you can tell who’s getting my vote.

On to the politi-tool™ harassment. Y’all know I’m a big fan of the county sheriff. Well, he was in attendance, as was the chief of the Brenham police. When I first walked into the forum and spotted the sheriff, I sidled up behind him and nudged him with my shoulder (for which I was rewarded with a nice hug) -- but not before the police chief puffed up his chest and postured himself like the sheriff’s bodyguard.
::rolleyes::

During the Q&A period, since the sheriff runs the jail, and the topic was bonds, I had a question, so I walked back to where he was standing. The police chief got all edgy and puffed himself up again! For which he was rewarded with the “Oh, FFS!” eyebrow, a dismissive eyeroll and a snort (gawd, but he’s a Stephen Covey Kool-aid-drinking putz).

It was an informational event -- I probably got more out of it than some of the candidates intended. 🙂

Other than that, it’s another workday.

T’anks for the detailed after-action report. 😉

Heh.

-- but not before the police chief puffed up his chest and postured himself like the sheriff’s bodyguard.

I’m sure a rural TX Sheriff is likely to need a “protector”…Jeebus.

Especially when he’s a steely-eyed former Texas Ranger:

He really is a sweetheart, but make no mistake, I have no intention of getting on his bad side.

Thank you! It was. PMK brought me red roses and Diet Dr Pepper. #3 son, who cannot make it to Sunday’s Official Mom’s B-Day Dinner, came to the Hall to bring me roses and Diet Dr Pepper and beer and stuck around to entertain me while I was babysitting a HOA meeting. Many nice wishes from many friends too.

The entertainer called; he’ll be a wee bit late. (His car’s doing something funny.)

This is why all guests get an ax.
