Really, really stupid on UCLA’s part. The same sort of folks who believe that gummint should forcibly lighten the wallet of anyone with too much money -- because, of course, those greedy bastards never share any of it with the people who “need” it -- reject a $3M gift because it might somehow be tainted with bigot cooties that’ll screw-up the dialysis machines or something.
Their argument is that by accepting his money, it will taint their efforts to solicit donations from other donors later on. It’s a curious thing, but then no more curious than all the hoopla and bullshit surrounding this whole issue. That an 80 year old man, in the privacy of his home, can mouth off currently untenable thoughts, be illegally recorded, and then fined $2.5 million dollars and forced to sell off his business strikes me as the height of mob rule and not something that should be celebrated as it is this morning.
That society is demanding a mountain of flesh for socially unacceptable thoughts and words as opposed to illegal or unethical deeds and actions is not a good development.
You can bet that the next time some elderly person of color mouths off something similar regarding white folks that these same pundits will bend over backwards to ignore and excuse the whole thing.
I’d love to see one tenth the outrage re stories I actually deem important like weaponizing the IRS, newest Benghazi revelations, Obamacare, letting veterans die so VA bureaucrats don’t look bad, the cesspit that is our entire Congress, and so forth.
But then, I suppose I’m an outlier “extremist” of some sort or other. More and more frequently, I have days where I think, “fuck it all…let it burn.” (Which I don’t believe is me getting older so much as it is the daily evidence that America is circling the drain and not enough folks give a damn.)

The last of my after-school AP review sessions is today. The test is on Monday and kids taking multiple AP tests are feeling the stress.
