Greetings from Sweet Home Larryville, GN…where it’s sure good to be back with MuchMissedK and a certain funny-looking dog.
Roof project not quite done -- lost about a day’s production over the first week due to teh heat plus we forgot about Memorial Day -- but probably will be by tomorrow. Building is actually watertight and meets warranty spec as of Friday; just needs some cosmetic finishing touches upon which our amazing foreman insists. But Jim told me to GTFO on-schedule. 😉
Board President was tough-but-fair, nice person and easy to work with, as were most homeowners / tenants. Sole exception was PITA Ukranian Jooooo for Jesus (not kidding) who -- as seems typical of Russians and Ukranians at SoCal HOAs -- kept trying to work various angles to get us to pay for realigning her satellite dish. (An item specifically excluded in our contract.)
She wasn’t as entertaining as the Russian Jooo at a place we roofed in ’05 who thought -- after seeing my surname and nose -- I’d be oh-so-accommodating due to “ethnic solidarity”. You can imagine how well that worked out. My favorite part was when, after getting nowhere with me for weeks, he demanded to talk to Jim. Who also refused to accede to his asinine demands, at which time he sneeringly told Jim, “YOU ARE NOTHING BUT PEASANT!!!1!”
Jim and I laughed so farking hard we had trouble breathing, which was probably not the reaction said Russki hoped to elicit.
Glad you made it home safely, Fatwa, and can now spend some time with Brenda and her puppies!
Kings played another incredible game last night beating the Rangers in the second OT period. That puts us up 2-0 in the best of seven for the Cup. It’s quite a different team from two years ago; that team was easily the best in the playoffs going 16-4 to win the Cup--all the more amazing as they were the 8th seed in the Western Conference. This year so far, their record is 14-9 and they are winning on grit. Coming from behind has not been a hallmark of this team, but they have done it the last three OT games in a row.
NY has a reason to be upset with this last loss; one Kings goal should have been disallowed due to goalie interference and the play that the Kings scored on in OT should maybe not have happened either--it looked like the Kings should have been penalized for delay of game putting NY on the power play. So it goes.

Paddy put you up to that, didn’t he, Sven?
