Is that drink like the “endless coffee pot” at IHOP?

Good Morning EveryGerbillyBody!

No, I’m not insulting TeX with a low bid.

Not insulted in the least.
I swear, y’all, I look at this thing and see multitude of flaws (which is why I’d *strive* for anonymoose).
The ladies out here are serious crafters, and I’ve had to teach myself this stuff thanks to the Internets. And this is my first attempt.

Dimensions are 40 x 50, so it’s what they call a “lap blanket/afghan” out here. Rabbit’s gonna giggle her butt off when she sees the picture, because it incorporates two of the most popular themes in rural Texas:

Hell, someone can buy it and put it in their deer hunting supply kit; the thing’s warm.

Other than that, not much is going on out here on the SE Central Texas prairie. While yesterday was fall-like, today promises to revert back to summer.

It’s Friday, the Mangler™ is out of the office and I can relax knowing that he’ll do no damage. At least not today.

Coffee anyone?

Yesterday was a tough one at TMP. We are down to just a handful of things to do inside and can’t seem to get them done. I did all the mopping yesterday and started on the kitchen. Like an idiot, I forgot to buy new liners for the stovetop. I bought some after we got back to our side of town. All I have left to do is clean the grunge from the burners and clean the stove. BW has been obsessed with the three wall-sized plate glass windows-she keeps redoing them. Now she wants to use the pool tile cleaner on both bathrooms. (These bathrooms have tile on the floor and halfway up the walls.) I wanted to do it all yesterday & pack up all the tools, ladders, etc. and leave nothing over there but the pool supplies. That didn’t happen. Maybe this weekend.

At least our realtor is out of the hospital & moving through his recovery. He emailed BW that he hopes to get pictures of the house next week & said his recovery was harder than he thought it would be. Once again, BW is in no hurry.

The reluctant neighbor left a note with the amount of our portion of the fence in the mailbox. I wrote a check and put it in his. BW wondered why he changed from, “no, you don’t need to pay me.” I told her that it was probably his wife. I’m not complaining. It is the right thing to do.

We only stayed over there about four hours. As we near the end, BW is getting more emotional about it. She (we ) are now seeing a counselor supposedly dealing with grief. But there is so much more! We haven’t gotten to the grief part yet. Can you imagine hearing about Teh family dynamics of Teh Crackhouse Mansion in a condensed form? So, I am in on the sessions because I can fill in the blanks when BW can’t (or won’t). Plus, I know the therapist from a previous life. She is a very smart and caring person.

I will hop back in later today.
Where are the afghan pictures?

Oh, TeX, I was slow typing when you hopped in.
All I can see is an x for the picture. Maybe it will show up later.
I was scrolling up , checking my comment & saw your post.

I was hoping you did a Texas theme.
I don’t care about flaws!

You’re auctioning off Afghans???????? Is that legal in Texas?

Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Happy Friday, GN!

Hai, RabBeet, TeX and Sven!

This has been a busy week re admin carp for Jim teh Roofer; the weatherguessers and media in SoCal have done a good job of convincing folks re the likelihood of a Godzilla El Niño™ (actual phrase used by local news operation) winter.

Main goal for today is final pricing for Rodan Reroof Bid™ and deliver Mothra Bid Package™ to client. (It’s currently at $577K but I think we can tighten that by at least $10K; don’t want to get knocked-out of the process in the first round.)

Good luck in bidding, Fatwa. If you get that down to a science, maybe you can get a good price on some Afghans from Texas!

Hot and hotter here today again; not liking summer much.

Mrs Sven is doing better; still employed too--the brouhaha over her not being college-educated seems to be dying down at work, so that’s good for her.

Time to turn off Mr Computer--he likes the heat even less than I do and gets quite cranky this time of year.

Poof.

Yeah, the paperwork was a cast-iron b!tch, but you know, it’s for the fire department…

Rabbit, I’m so glad BW has you. *SMISH*

And, Rabbit²!!!!
It’s an intriguing idea, but criminy! that’d be hard to lay out. To the best of my knowledge I’m still the lone token Jooooooooo out here. The Fire Chief still gets confused if I use the word “schmuck”.

That may change a little though. The oldest and first Temple established in Texas happened to be in Brenham. Several years ago, they moved it closer to Houston. I guess some historical society decided that wasn’t an entirely accurate locale, so it’s coming back.

I plan to be there when it happens.

Hi, Sven -- glad to hear Mrs. Sven’s worries are calming.
Fatwa! Good luck!

Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, RabBiT, TeX, Sven, and Fatwa!

TeX -- good looking Iraqi Afghan! A Magen David pattern would certainly be more difficult, as well as confusing to the locals. Is there a building for the Temple to move into, or will they have to create a new one?

I plan to be there when it happens.

That would be something to experience.

Fatwa -- good luck on the bids.

Sven -- I’m glad Mrs. Sven is doing better and that things have calmed down at work.

They up and moved the building. So they’re going to up and move it again to fairly close to its original location.

Mrs. Paddy and I are heading out to La Jolla for the day -- just to get out of the house and wander around.

Have a Jerrie-ific day, ‘cuz you just know he will!

Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

I’ve heard of wandering jooos, but wandering Temples?

Behold:

Jim teh Roofer and I were able to tighten bid numbers and get the price down to just under $547K; trimming a little fat from each of 17 buildings adds up fast. (Still a pantaloon-soilingly large bid price for us and the HOA.)

Now getting caught-up on other bids which went by the wayside this week…I need an eight-week working vacation in L.A. 🙂
