‘Morning, Rabbit!
Yup, it’s ~80° here too. But it IS raining. I lost track of which Weather Alert woke me when after midnight -- I think it was the Flash Flood Warning.

Happy Saturday-and-am-I-glad-repiping-the-house-isn’t-on-this-weekend’s-agenda! Two weeks of all-go, no-quit with three days in the middle without water, and I AM the Sofa King.

At work, our child PM with a degree in Fwench Poetry (WTF that has to do with vehicle loss I have no idea), is bringing out the sharpest little tidbits of ye olde STFU and STFD attitude.

Funny thing is, Teh Mangler™’s proofing me for over-snark so I can walk that fine line. Wee-yurd.

Other than that, I got nuthin’. It’s raining and I’ve got some shelves to refill now that the plumbing’s done. I plan on puttering s.l.o.w.l.y. all weekend long.

*SMISH!* y’all!

Coffee?

Good morning, ladies.

Hope the rain remains just a pleasant wetness. And Happy Halloween!

I’m off to work today--becoming a habit these Saturday’s, but at least it is mostly quiet there and I can get some work done.

Happy Halloween, GN!

Mac --

Creepy-good thread pic.

RabBeet --

Glad you checked-in.

TeX --

Glad you checked-in, too. Sorry it’s been a carpy couple of weeks for you. OTOH, teh re-piping -- which I know is a PITA -- is done; hope that re-stowing stuff goes faster than you anticipate.

Sven --

Sucks you have to travel to teh bestest-evar place of employment today; hope it’s a relatively short but productive day for you.

Oh…BOO!

Happy Caturday, Gerbil Nation!
Hai, RabBiT, TeX, Sven, and Fatwa!
I’m glad our Tejas contingent is safe and sound. Let’s keep it that way, shall we?

TeX -- glad the repiping is over and done with. Also glad you’ve got someone running interference for you at work.
Sven -- I hope they appreciate all the extra time you put in at Teh Bestest Place Evah!, but I’m sure they don’t.

Mrs. Paddy and I decided to try out a bakery/cafe that she’d received a gift card for. We split a breakfast scramble, are both pleasantly full, and the price was reasonable. The line was also out the door. The Santa Ana’s are done, so it’s up on the roof for me. I can barely contain my joy.

Hai, Paddy!

Good luck finding teh leak. As always, if I can be of any help re info please feel free to call.

Thanks, Fatwa! The skylight was being held up slightly near one corner (near the leak, by golly!) and wasn’t in contact with the weatherstripping. I took care of the issue, added another layer of weatherstripping to the side of the skylight frame, and re-installed. The hardest part was finding the weatherstripping at Home Despot.

A question for TeX and especially Fatwa:

The transgender son of a friend of mine went to high school today dressed as The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. He was called into the Principal’s office because another student, whose great-great-grand-something or other died in the Holocaust, was offended.

What is your take?

How does the transgendered part fit into this story?

Boy, was work wonderful!

It doesn’t really, unless you want to count any negative commentary as an assault on transgendered people. I’m still trying to work out the algorithm.

What is your take?

Paddy --

Had some kid worn that when I was in HS, I’d have probably been offended. But a) that was 40+ years closer to the end of the war and, b)I’d have probably just told the kid myself rather than bitching to the principal. (And possibly made a nasty crack about how the Nazis would have treated a transgender person.)

At this point in time, it would barely register on my personal outrageometer. (As there are far more outrageous things occurring everyday in our fabulous modern age.)

Personal assessment: Sort of a dick move. Since I don’t know the kid, I’ll leave it right there.

Boy, was work wonderful!

It’s a funny thing as to what is offensive now and what it isn’t. Pregnant nuns and lecherous priests: OK.
A guy dressing up as a woman: normal everyday wear
Muslims: off limits
Gays: off limits
Murderous psychopaths: OK
Sarah Palin hung in effigy: the height of hilarity
Barack Obama hung in effigy: hate crime

There really needs to be a manual cuz I can’t keep up.

The mom’s Social Justice Warrior friends were all tripping over themselves as they struggled to both condemn the costume and excuse any possible offense (because mom holds the ‘right’ kind of views).

Fatwa -- does the kid being transgender have any impact on your opinion?

As Sven said, I really need a manual.

Of course not! What a silly question!

And what it says further is that the possibility of honest dialogue is impossible.
