Good morning from cold and sunny Kingman Az! I’m having a nice visit with my mom, just the two of us. it’s so strange with daddy gone. The house just doesn’t feel the same but she seems to be doing quite well.
Last night it dropped down to 28! But inside was a balmy 79. Mom likes it so warm I had to crack open the window to sleep. Im going to put my boots on and go for a birthday hike right after breakfast because the sunlight will warm it up to at least 40 today. brrrr I’ll try not to die! Heading back to civilization tomorrow.
I doubt that most of those will be good as shooters but collectors will be hot for them. All the government guns were made in or before 1945 and they had been rebuilding and repairing them for decades when they faced the prospect they needed to buy new guns and decided to change so many are no longer combat worthy. I spent more restoring mine than it would have cost for a low end shooter but it had special value as it was the first handgun I shot when I was 11 years old. It’s collector value was reduced as it had different brand slide and frame. It was worth it and is now a reliable and effective defense gun though I don’t use it for that. It’s also fun to shoot.
Happy Caturday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Cali, Sven, Fatwa, and Mac!
I saw the notice about the CMP 1911’s. I’m glad that they’re finally releasing pistols for the program, but I think I’ll pass. I already have a standard 1911 and my FiL’s surplus 1911. What I’d like is another M1 carbine, but various administrations have banned the importation of U.S. military surplus from overseas. What I’d really like is an M14, but I know that’s not gonna happen.
Depending on price, I may try to go through the CMP just for the heck of it. On the other hand, Mrs Sven gave me a gift card for my birthday 6 months ago to a local gun shop so that I could buy a brand new 1911 and I have yet to do so.
Hey! What’s that cat doing on Fatwa’s throne?
Happy Caturday, GN!
Hai, Sven!
Not sure I’d want a throne like that; looks sort of stabby.
And QueenO’MyHeartK would be unhappy it has no cabbage roses decorating it. 👿

Hi Fatwa! Hi Cali!
Kingman, eh? I haven’t been there in a long time. Beautiful stark desert landscape.
I’m thinking this might be something to pursue:

It is amazing how well these feel when you handle one after not holding one for a while. Nothing quite feels the same.
