“Today, all of us feel a sense of loss, but not equally. I’d like to conclude with words to the families, the spouses, and especially the children of the fallen. Your loved one’s time with you was too short. They did not get a chance to properly say goodbye. But they went where duty called. They defended us, even to the end. They finished well. We will not forget what they did for us.”
My guess is that he wrote those words himself and meant every one of them.
As contrasted to Obama who I’m certain didn’t write his own eulogy/political speech and just can’t help talking about himself…
Happy Wednesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
Is there any event that Resident Obama can’t turn into a chance to talk about himself? I will be so glad when that guy leaves the White House (that his wife can’t stand to wake up in).
It’s slow, but we knew it would be. The tile guy couldn’t start until the 25th, but we’re gone that week, so tile won’t go in until the 1st of August. The plumber spent most of yesterday installing the new tub, only to have the apron crack when trying to level it. He’ll be back tomorrow to install the new, new tub (which should get delivered today).
Middle o’ teh week salutations, GN!
Aside from pie, I got nothin’ else.
“Wednesday’s like watchin’ dead flowers grow”
Good morning, GN!
Yesterday in Dallas, President Bush said this:
“Today, all of us feel a sense of loss, but not equally. I’d like to conclude with words to the families, the spouses, and especially the children of the fallen. Your loved one’s time with you was too short. They did not get a chance to properly say goodbye. But they went where duty called. They defended us, even to the end. They finished well. We will not forget what they did for us.”

Hai, Sven!
Thanks for the above; Bush 43 may not have been a terrific C-in-C, but I’ve always believed him to be a pretty decent person.
I rather liked this:
Happy Wednesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
Is there any event that Resident Obama can’t turn into a chance to talk about himself? I will be so glad when that guy leaves the White House (that his wife can’t stand to wake up in).
Hai, Paddy!
In answer to your rhetorical query: no.
As people have said about Obama for years, “He’s the bride at every wedding and the corpse at every funeral”.
How’s the bathroom remodel progressing?
It’s slow, but we knew it would be. The tile guy couldn’t start until the 25th, but we’re gone that week, so tile won’t go in until the 1st of August. Bummer about the busted apron and tile delay; good thing you knew to expect a slow process.
“He’s the bride at every wedding and the corpse at every funeral”. Heh. I like that.
