Cleveland.com has a slideshow entitled “National Convention of the Oppressed marches in Cleveland”. (Not linking because screw ’em.)
They made sure to prominently mention the presence of Dr. Cornel West and Malik Zulu Shabazz, president of Black Lawyers for Justice. They also carefully vetted and/or cropped the photos, because there were only about 70 non-media attendees. But hey…there were some black power salutes and berets; makes me feel ten-years-old again. 👿
This is also the 50th anniversary of the Hough Riots; we could hear the gunshots where we lived. And I remember National Guard tanks near the Case Western Reserve campus. A half-century later, that neighborhood still looks like shit despite five decades of “progressive” rule in Cleveland.
But it’ll improve any day, now…I’m just sure of it.
Woke up this morning to a cat asleep on the floor next to the bed; apparently Mrs Sven let little Tatum sleep inside all night. He was quiet until I got up and then immediately started whining to be fed. After his breakfast, he went back upstairs and I assume is sleeping again, cuz what else do cats do besides eat, whine, and sleep?
Sounds like you and teh missus have a new feline retainer.
…what else do cats do besides eat, whine, and sleep?
Um, tear-up furniture and/or molding, perform bodily functions in inappropriate locations, scratch people, kill prey and bring it home, hack-up hairballs, suck the breath out of sleeping humans; they do all sorts of things. 😉
A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, Sven, and Mac!
I read this morning that the California delegation to the RNC is being housed in Sandusky. Maybe they could move the convention to Cedar Point. I’m sure the security is better.
Read about the CA delegation’s location a couple of weeks ago. It’s a given that the entertainment at Cedar Point would be better. But I think the convention’s going to be a scarier ride than anything Cedar Fair has to offer. 👿
You guys are right: cats do do all those things. Something to look forward to. I’m trying to figure out a way to give him access to the second floor balcony and a kitty door up there. Got to think on that one.
It probably won’t help that so many of the cops in Cleveland this week are from out of town and, thus, unfamiliar with the “lie of the land”. Not to mention cop murders in Dallas and Baton Rouge, Cleveland’s lack of real civic leaders and the state of their local police force under normal circumstances.
Plus locals and visitors seeking to cause trouble.
Bad combination.
I expect the DNC convention in Philly next week will also be a mess.
Listened to the press conference from Baton Rouge, I’m guessing that all the talk about hate and division and so forth leans towards the shooter being a black guy. But maybe not.
Happy RNC Convention Eve Day, GN!

I knew Mike Pence looked familiar:
Good morning and happy Sunday, GN! Hi Fatwa!

Hell, Fatwa, I do most of those. Except hunting, too much like work.
Eating, whining, and sleeping I have down cold. I am the master of these.
“perform bodily functions in inappropriate locations”
Who’s been talking?
I think he used the wrong tin of Kiwi.

Hai, Mac and Paddy!
*Snerk*
You are both very wrong Gerbils; yay!
I approve this meme:

Watched this on CSPAN this morning: Heather McDonald and her book “The War on Cops.” She’s quite impressive.

And I see another police shooting--I don’t think that bodes well for Cleveland next week.

Obama urging that both sides tone down their rhetoric. Funny, but the only really angry words I’ve been hearing have been coming from the left.
“Build the wall” doesn’t seem equivalent to “What do we want? Dead cops” especially when you start getting dead cops.
The Baton Rouge murderer was a member of Nation of Islam; I’m shocked.
Well, there goes my five bucks: I bet on him being a Tea Partier.
I like the headline on MSN: “Ex-Marine Kills 3 Officers in Racially Tense Baton Rouge.”
Bravo. Wonderful editing.
“Ex-Marine” is a disrespectful phrase.
