Didn’t watch the debate, as I saw nothing to be gained by doing so. If I had any common sense, I suppose I ought to be somewhat terrified by this election cycle…but I’m not.
I’m only coldly angry.
Going to just stop right there and post a happy puppy GIF.
I watched most of the debate. It was mostly a boring affair with Kaine interrupting and talking over Pence every chance he got. Plus Kaine had this liberal arrogant smirk on his face the whole time. In terms of substance, I didnt get much out of it. In terms of personality, I sided with Pence.
I don’t think it changes the election, but Pence didnt implode, so no harm done. It will be up to Trump on Sunday if he wants to actually get serious about this thing.
Happy Wednesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
I turned on the debate, heard the long-winded first question, and turned it off.
Every morning I check the business section of the newspaper and every morning for quite some time now the headline in re stock market performance is something like this:
“Stocks post huge gains on market uncertainty”
then the next day
“Stocks tumble -- investors nervous”
The huge gains and the terrible losses range from 0.5 -- 3%, but the overall trend is little more than flat, with FUD controlling the daily direction. Our economy is in the terlet and a hand is on the lever.
I tried to watch the debate. That Kaine puppet was a rude, arrogant, interrupting prick and Pence kept repeating himself. I turned it off after about 15 minutes and had a nice dinner with my husband instead.
I hatez teh politiks!
Big congrats to the Blue Origin team! In addition to a successful test of the emergency separation and landing of their crew capsule, the booster continued up to space and was also successfully landed.
That’s freakin’ amazing! Nobody realistically expected bringing the booster back safely. They’re retiring it -- and the capsule -- after (I believe) five successful flights.
Jump to 1:06:08 (if the video doesn’t start around there) for the tail-end of the countdown and the whole flight.
“It was overkill trying to keep up with him and the speed,” Hughes said. “I’d try to calm him down with shots of bourbon, but he’d just counter it with more speed. He’d grumble something like, ‘C’mon man, this isn’t fucking Hawkwind!’ By the end, I was doing lines every other song just to keep up.”
Nice recursive horsey, Mac. 😉

Regardless, we are still forked.
And good morning GN!
Hai, Sven!
Cheers for your capsule review; that’s consonant with most of what I’ve read from (IMHO) reliable sources.
This made me smile:

Everybody on the east coast ready for Matthew? Stay safe.
Looks like we’re only going to have some clouds with a 25% chance of rain.
Just came across this five minutes ago: Lemmy impersonator dead after only three weeks on job.
