Between the Indians and Cavs, Cleveland’s having a collective sportsgasm this week; bah! I don’t begrudge them their sports fandom; just wish they’d expend a fraction of that attention and energy toward stuff that -- IMHO -- is significantly more important than sportsball fever.
A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa,and Sven!
Cute thread gifs, Ohio sportsball, and slime -- what more could you ask for?
I really hope the Cubs win the World Series. The owner and his family are long-time fans, they set a long-term goal of acquiring young talent and developing them -- not buying big names for big bucks -- and hired a coach and front office staff that shared that vision. Too many teams opt for paying ridiculous salaries, then trade away fan favorites to cut costs. Or in the other cases, they trade away the talent in their farm system to pay for an end-of-career name they hope will give them one or two years of glory. Much like most of big business, they focus on the short-term and not the long. The Cubs organization has done it the right way and their performance has proven it.
Always had some affection for this version of “I’m The Slime” on Saturday Night Live due to the participation of Don Pardo (at 1:15 if you just want to cut to the chase):

Having spent a few years as a youngster within walking distance of Wrigley Field, I wish I could be more excited for them…or even the Indians; alas, I’m a defective individual with no “sports gene”.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
(But I know folks in both cities who will be devastated if their team loses.)
Sunday greetin’s, GN!
Totally adorbs thread GIF, Mac.

Hi Fatwa and good morning GN! Happy Sunday.
I woke up this morning with this song in my head. The opening lyrics put me in mind of Hillary!:
A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!

“The first place Oakland Raiders…” It just never gets old.
…but apparently it’s a thread kilter. Sorry.
