Photobucket’s down right now, so I can’t see Mac’s intriguingly-named “crabs.gif” image or respond (in)appropriately. 👿
Oh BOTHER!!
Criminy, Mac…sorry to read about your episode and the loss of insulin yesterday. I concur with Paddy’s threat to engage RabBeet and BW; DON’T MAKE US DO IT!!
The house my folks bought in 1969 (and which Mom sold in 2002) was built in 1928 by Dr. Henry J. John, a Czech immigrant who was the first doc to use insulin clinically in the U.S.
Good morning! 4 more days. sigh. When will this thing be OVER??
Mac! Take care! I don’t want anything bad to happen to you, sir.
DST is ending this weekend, so, like every year, I am feeling pretty distraught. Its going to be dark when I get off work now so no more hiking, swimming, paddleboarding after work. Sigh. Can’t I just hibernate like Waylon and wake up in the Spring all skinny and cantankerous? He is already in hibernating bliss and wont wake up till March or April. Lucky tortoise!
Photobucket was down when I went to bed at 3 AM so I expect it may be a while.
Paddy, she has something better, she fusses a lot My blood sugar was normal at 122 in the afternoon so I decided to do my treadmill time before taking a shower and having lunch. I underestimated how fast it was dropping and would drop with the exercise. After .about 23 minutes and over a mile I felt warning signs so I went in and checked the blood before hitting the shower. Probably a good thing as it was 62 and could have dropped much lower in the shower. I hit the apple juice and cookies again before having lunch. It recovered quickly but there are side effects for hours afterward and I was still a bit shaky in the evening. I am learning what I can and can’t get away with now that I am exercising more. Now that I am no longer taking the Glipizide things are a bit more stable and consistent, I just have to be careful not to do too much at a time without eating something. I had a milder situation last week because I spent too much time on errands and as I was checking out at Walmart I felt the warning signs. I had purchased bananas so I ate a couple when I got out to my truck and then drove home. Now I always take my bottle of apple juice with me in the car.
Sven, I have noticed the increased tempo of desperate posts on Facebook, it is almost like one of Deb’s frenzies as she approaches a day in court. I will be glad when it is over. I already voted on the first day of early voting here. Pfffttt!
Fatwa, I frequently remind Elena how lucky I am that we are able to get insulin. It wasn’t that long ago that my condition would be a terrible thing instead of a minor inconvenience as it is for me. I am aware of the huge debt owed to the people who developed the methods that provide cheap, consistent, and safe insulin. I was appalled when I read years ago about what they used to have to do.
Out here in lovely SoCal, at teh bestest place ever, not a single bumper sticker for either Hillary! or Trump on the cars in the parking lot. Havent seen hardly any at all on my commutes: no signs--no bumper stickers. Compared to the flood of Obama signage 4 and 8 years ago, it’s odd that I’ve seen more Bernie signs than anything for Hillary!. I guess she’s not as big a draw as she thinks she is.
Talking with coworkers, there’s an interesting breakout of reactions to the outcome on Tuesday. The libs are frightened of a Trump victory--they are honestly scared of him and his programs. On the other side, the anti-Hillary! and Trump supporter crowds are angry at the possibility of a Hillary! presidency. Fear vs. anger…
Funny too that the executive bunch at work stopped their public mocking of all things Trump about two weeks ago and have been mostly silent since the polls began to tighten after Wikileaks, James O Keefe, and the FBI announcement.
I don’t know anything about them, Sven. I doubt it would apply as I only take two small doses a day. I tend to use the flexibility of that to deal with irregularities, such as tonight. My blood sugar was low so I waited until after eating to take the shot and pill. This happens at times.
I have heard the term but never learned about them. I know they wanted me to use the pen but I prefer the syringes.
TGIF, GN!

Good morning,
Just be careful Mac, and accidents happen: don’t beat yourself up over it.
So is this America’s last Friday ever? Lot of doom and gloom being forecast ahead of next Tuesday.
Hai, Sven!
Photobucket’s still down; wonder if it’s another DDoS attack.
Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, Sven, and Mac’s crabs!
Mac -- accidents happen, but letting your blood sugar get way out of whack is another matter, entirely. Should I tell Elena to break out la chancla?

Have you thought about an insulin pump, Mac?
