Good morning and happy last Saturday BTSHTF! Nice to see that Photobucket has resolved their issues, whatever they were. It was probably the Russians messing with them.
Speaking of Russians, the topic of them trying to influence our election came up in conversation yesterday. I mentioned to a lib acquaintance that there wasn’t any proof that the Russians had hacked Clinton’s emails and he got hot about that and brought up the “17 intelligence agencies have said so” talking point. I asked him if these were the same agencies that said Iraq had WMD and that just pissed him off further.
I can tell from the talking heads this morning that they are worried about Hillary! losing as they are already talking about how we have to come together as a country after the election, put that divisiveness behind us, regardless of who wins. If they were confident in Hillary! pulling it off, their tune would be that we have to get in line and support whatever liberal policies the old hag comes up with cuz she has a mandate.
Thank you, Sven. That was very informative but that is not for me. It seems to be for people needing much more insulin than I need at this point and there is no way I could live with that tube in me.
At the hospital they originally prescribed the insulin pen for me but the night we went home the pharmacy was out so they gave my niece a 10ml vial and a hundred disposable syringes. I ended up preferring these so I have stayed with it. The only problem was the instruction and literature they gave me was all for using the pen so I had to figure out how to load and use the syringes to inject myself but it got sorted out. I did not like the pen because of the way the dose is adjusted and the seeming difficulty in cleaning and sterilizing the needle. I am much more comfortable with the single use needles.
As I have gotten older I am afraid some of my obsessive traits have gotten stronger and some sanitation issues bother me more than they used to. I don’t think I could get comfortable with the tube in place and I don’t need that level of control. I inject ten units twice a day. Insulin comes in fast acting and slower release types. The pump uses the fast acting so it needs regular injection. I use a mix called 70/30 that is 30% fast acting and 70% slow release (12 hours or more). It is generally cheaper and gives me good coverage. About the only adjustment I need to make is waiting until after I eat dinner to take the shot if my sugar level is low, and being careful about lunch in the afternoon to avoid a crash if I am busy or active. I seem to be pretty mild in my needs.Things are just complicated a bit because there is sometimes conflict between what is good for the diabetes and the heart. That should change later as I get the blockages fixed and I am already greatly increasing what I can do on the treadmill, I just need to be careful not to do too much. I have only needed the nitro a couple of times so far.
Glad to read that you’ve gotten a “routine” down re maintaining your sugar levels and that your coming along on the treadmill. (Have an acquaintance in L.A. who’s a touring musician and diabetic; told me that it took him a while to get the hang of how to maintain his sugar levels while traveling for weeks -- or months -- at a time with sometimes wildly varying daily schedules.)
This election cycle resembles the plots of numerous carpy novels and films that I’ve either read/watched part of or declined to consume because of asinine-sounding synopses.
Wish that I could as easily decline to live through the aftermath of Tuesday.
Happy Caturday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
It’s another beautiful day in paradise.
Sven -- I got a good chuckle out of your story in re the Russians. I love to watch people get apoplectic when their hypocrisy is held up to their faces.
Going through my ballot today. We’ve got something like 20 state and local initiatives. First pass: review what the Dems support and oppose and do the opposite. Then I’ll dig into some of them a little deeper.
Happy “Back To Standard Time Weekend” Caturday, GN!
Remind me not to mess with that thread rabbit. (Or RabBeet, either; hope she and BW are well.)

Hi Mac,
Not knowing the specifics of your situation, but check out this page and see if it makes sense to pursue:

This amused me:
Heh.One can only hope.
Bad manners. Slap. Hi Fatwa and Mac and Paddy.
