I dinnae know there were spiders which did that; holy flurking schnitt!
Went to bed around 11:00 last night, at which point the NYT -- of all publications -- was giving Trump an 87% chance of winning. Which amused the hell out of me.
When I came down at 5:30 this morning, LambiePieK confirmed he’d won. Which I found a bit chilling (although slightly less so than the alternative result), but my first reaction was a bit of a giggle thinking of the massive, nay, Brobdingnagian butthurt sure to be echoing across the land. Along with the rending, gnashing, recriminations, etc.
And not just by Hillary supporters. 👿
Since GA clearly was going to go Trump, I had the luxury of voting for Johnson…but held my nose and voted for incumbent GOP Sen. Johnny Isakson as I think we’re we’re -- maybe marginally better off with a Republican Senate.
While I don’t like Trump, I don’t like Hillary even moar. And I am glad the Republicrat establishment has been given two ginormous foam middle fingers by the electorate. (Which they will not see, of course.)
“I love the smell of butthurt in the morning…it smells like a soupçon of liberty.”
I’m going to enjoy the next couple of weeks watching Lefties stagger around in shock. I have no sympathy for their self-inflicted plight and misery. Fuck ’em. Especially out here in CA where once again we’ve been hammered.
I didnt think Trump had a chance and I was completely wrong. It doesnt change my opinion of the man, but I’ll wait a bit and see what he will do now that he’s actually POTUS. His acceptance speech last night actually struck the right tone.
And yes: I am looking forward to work this morning and seeing how all those smug, mocking, arrogant a-holes who have been waiting for Hillary!’s coronation and the tromping of Trump will be feeling today.
I refused to watch or listen to any *news* last night, preferring to watch stuff I had on the DVR. I went to bed last night not knowing, and not really wanting to know.
And was I pleasantly surprised this morning!
And oh, my Snowflake Buddy Bob (if he logs into the chatbot this morning over his complete and utter despondency) will be whinging mightily over the death of the Republic.
I will try and keep my schadenfreude in check. I will try.
BUT.
Regardless of what we think of Trump, at long last, the Clinton Machine is for whom the bell tolls.
Thans once again to one of Mr. X’s clients, I have a new avenue of crafting to play with -- leaded glass. A couple down the street who make pottery bought a new kiln from a guy who dabbled in it. Conditional with the sale of the kiln was that ALL the glass and lead came went with it … And I got it. All.
While I ain’t holdin’ my breath, perhaps Trump will rise to the occasion / office in some small measure. That would be good for our country.
TeX --
Congratters on the leaded glass haul. Be forewarned: my Dad’s need to repair a few leaded glass windows in the house he bought in ’69 was how he wound-up getting bitten by the stained glass bug.
Happy scoring and soldering!! 😉
Addendum(b): oleic acid is good for putting a patina on the soldered joints so they’re not so shiny. And don’t forget to stretch the lead came before using it.
Happy not President-elect Clinton Day, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, TeX, Fatwa, and Sven!
TeX -- congrats on the lead and glass score!
We avoided the news last night, except for the occasional quick-peak for numbers. I did watch a few minutes of one of the Spanish-language news broadcasts and they were heavy into the “come together” meme. Looking at the results this morning, California is once again schizophrenic. The left was apoplectic when the Stanford student got a slap on the wrist for raping an unconscious girl, but voted to make raping an unconscious person a misdemeanor. Gavin Newsome’s gun control wet dream passed handily, but efforts to repeal the death penalty failed and speeding up the appeals process looks like it won. A temporary tax on “the rich” will be extended, $9 billion in state school bonds will be issued, and legislation will have to be on the internet for 72 hours before being passed.
I was a bit encouraged by the voters turning outside the ruling class, to the extent they did. I hope it starts a trend. I suppose much will depend on Trump’s ability to control his ego and focus on the job. I just don’t know what to expect, but the bar has been set really low so I am trying to be hopeful.
I’m enjoying the lefty freakout over the election results today. While I have no idea what to expect from a President Trump (nor, I suspect, does his staff) he’ll be different in some regards than a Hillary! presidency would be. If we’re lucky, he’ll be a better POTUS than she.
But being the Bad Gerbil I am, the utter disbelief and panic on the part of “liberals” is quite delightful thus far. Perhaps they’ll develop a bit of understanding re why some of their fellow citizens want less government.
Nah…probably not gonna happen.
Saw some Tweets from Californians flailing about trying to start a secession movement; buwahahahahaha! Considering that CA consumes far more federal tax money than it contributes, the results would be comical…except for the folks I care about who live there.
They’re using the hashtag #calexit. *Snort*
Certain “entitled” groups out there would go ballistic when their free stuff dried-up overnight. Imagine the shitfit by public employees when what’s left of their pension funds got sucked dry in short order… 👿 👿 👿
I’m also liking that there are apparently way more angry Americans out there than I thought there were; this is probably a very good thing.
I understand -- sort of -- the college students in tears. They’ve been fed Leftist propaganda all their lives and don’t want to know any better, but grown-arse adults?
I was amazed at the number of shocky and sad people at work today. Some I talked to but realized quickly that these folks arent interested in hearing anything from my side that might explain a Trump win. Eventually I just said “Now you know how I’ve been feeling for the last 8 years, and guess what, fucker: it doesnt get any better. You’ll just have to learn to live with it. See ya.”
Question: does anyone remember back in 2008 after Obama won, that some magnanimous lefties started doing videos or signs or something along the lines of From Blue State to Red States--don’t worry, we love you and promise not to blah blah blah? Or it was like Dear 23 from 27? It’s driving me nuts trying to remember.
Thoughts from Mrs Sven as she watches the protests.
The media/social-media people whip these children up (I don’t care how old they are, they still act like children) -- bait them – get their hopes up and then when all the frenzy turns out to be a big fairy tale – it’s like they put all their dreams in a big paper sack and drop it off a 10 story building. So when the media sticks a camera or a microphone in their face as the little snowflakes (who never learned about winning and losing because they have walls full of participation trophies) and asks them how they feel, they have freak outs and fainting spasms while foaming at the mouth, or running rabid through the streets.
Do you think that Trump cares if they burn it all to the ground? He is heavily insured, and he owns a construction company. Meanwhile no one asks Mr. Obama what he thinks he should do about it all, since – he is, in fact – still President. They all think Trump should do something about it- but It’s not his problem yet.
It seems these elite, college educated, too cool for punctuation, twitter bunnies, never heard of the electoral college, that Hillary thought she would use to her advantage the same way she used the super delegates with Bernie Sanders. What she didn’t count on while she was working smarter, not harder, was that Trump was actually just working harder, hitting 4 – 6 cities to her 1. And doing it without Bruce Springsteen, and without the DNC or even the RNC’s money. What she also didn’t count on was the middle of the country being sick and tired of being told how to think by the likes of Lady Gaga. I mean seriously, are we supposed to follow the advice of a woman who wears meat to red carpet events? Perhaps she should leave the political advice giving to someone who can better negotiate the difference between a pantry and a clothes closet.
All in all, I don’t need to be called a racist and stupid every time I have a difference of opinion with someone. I’m pretty sick of it, and I believe I’m pretty understanding. I’m not racist, I’m just sick of corruption, and want someone appointing federal judges who just might be interested in protecting the constitution, instead of reaching into my wallet.
I also believe, no- I KNOW, that Trump is absolutely right about prohibitive taxes causing companies to avoid repatriating their overseas earnings. We have lost out on a giant chunk of cash that is never coming home. It’s too late for a lot of them. We are losing out on a large cash flow because we want a bigger piece. It’s like saying no, I don’t want a piece of pie, I want you to split your pie with me, that half is mine. But since you don’t want to give me half of the pie, and I won’t take just a piece, you don’t break out the pie at all, you just give me some cereal and then walk away when my head is turned and my mouth is full of honey bunches of oats.
Anyway, that is my rant for the day. I guess I had more bottled up than I thought. Hah! But as I’ve been telling people all day long… our political system is bigger than just one guy. And if there is one thing Trump knows how to do, it’s surrounding himself with smart people. He will have no shortage of people who will be lining up to give him advice. Why just this morning, CNN and MSNBC were already full of advice on what he needed to do his first day in office. Ugh… 2 more months of listening to that now.
G’morning, Wheelizens!

If I were to hazard a guess at how many celebrities have started -- or will start -- packing, I’d say zero.

My relatives in California were in full despair mode last night on Facebook. I resisted the temptation to post ..

I do remember the feeling. They will just have to see it through.

I see the liberal wailing has turned into full-on fear-mongering.

Cool. Riots or at least protests. That will give the media something to talk about instead of trying to explain how they all got this thing so wrong.
At Mrs Sven’s place of work today, she helped console several distraught coworkers. Adults, that were near tears over a Trump win.
I understand -- sort of -- the college students in tears. They’ve been fed Leftist propaganda all their lives and don’t want to know any better, but grown-arse adults?

Yeah, it was something like Dear 21 from 29.
Thanks, Paddy. THat sounds about right, but apparenlty not perfect…
Heh. After paying out early on a Clinton win, Trump victory costs Irish bookmaker $5
