I was reading through a comment thread on a FB post yesterday. The post was to a local community concerns page and the poster was stating how much she supports the Dakota Access Pipeline protesters. Comments were polite, but every request for verification of her claims was met by the same response -- I watch live feeds, so I know the Pravda Truth; you believe the government lies. It was like a train wreck you couldn’t pull your eyes away from. Godwin’s law was not violated.
Huh. “Hundreds of people reported being harassed or intimidated in the week and a half following Election Day, in what a prominent civil rights group is calling “a national outbreak of hate” after President-elect Donald Trump’s election.”
Of course, the “prominent civil rights group” is the SPLC. Spit. No mention in the article about the fake claims that have already been disproven or the ones that were probably committed by anti-Trump folks or the violent protests and riots that were clearly committed by folks unhappy with the election results.
I wonder if the OSU car and knife attacks add up to one hate outbreak or several hate outbreaks based on the number of victims? More likely, it will be completely ignored by the SPLC.
What’s worse? Posting a nasty tweet or stabbing someone?
The SPLC is a good money-maker for Morris Dees. They may have been less of a scam early in their history, but I’m increasingly skeptical about the possibility.
I worry that I’m nowhere near cynical enough to deal with our current reality.
What’s worse? Posting a nasty tweet or stabbing someone?
That depends on the “identity” of both the victim and victimizer (assuming they’re not one and the same). 👿
In other news, our President-Elect continues to be a flaming and clueless asshole.
Much talk today about burning American flags as a Constitutionally protected act of protest and free speech. However, if I went out and burnt a rainbow or Mexican flag, I bet that would get added to the SPLC list of hate incidents.
Had to laugh at that goofy Jack Tatum critter that eats and sleeps here. There’s a St. Francis statue in the back yard and I was lecturing #32 that I’m wearing the Saint out by praying to him all the time to bring him home safely. Tatum, as usual, does his aloof-not listening thing. And then yesterday morning when I came outside, there’s a dead mouse at the foot of the statue.
G’day, Gerbiliños!
I got nothin’ else; need moar coffeine [sic].
Aaaaaaah…here we go:
Good morning, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa!

Paddy: why let the truth get in the way of a good story?

Heya, Paddy and Sven!

If it weren’t for double-standards…
If you burn an Israeli flag, you’ll have a few folks on the left and right praising you. 👿
Likely true. Sad to say.
I’m tempted to start writing the SPLC and reporting fake hate crimes. It doesn’t appear that much effort on their part is made to verify.
Trolling the SPLC?
Endorsed!
Bonus points for adding a preposterous element to the reports. 😉

Although I’m sure he appreciates the gesture, I’m not sure how St. Francis would take that.
Love it. That made me laugh out loud.
