Caturday greetings from Happy -- if dreary and rainy -- Larryville, GN!
We’re due to get about 2″ of rain today and tomorrow; SoCal has us beat there. 👿
At least it’s not cold here (currently 59ºF), but I really wanted to stay slug-a-bed ’cause it’s so dark outside. Hope Casa O’Furnijur and teh Mountain Redoubt stay safe.
My apologies on being so lax in checking in … work’s been a cluster to say the least, I really wasn’t isn’t a good place during the holidaze, and we’ve been playing the “where the hell did you find that?!?” game with the 6-mo.-old pup we adopted last week.
Her name is Gandi -- NOT named after the wizened gentleman from India, but the wizened Gandolph the White.
(Seriously?! *I’m* the d0rk?!)
She’s a hound mix. I thought Tess was the hungriest dog in the world, but this pup makes eating look like a magic trick. I’d promised Brody we’d get him another cuddle buddy (Dottie used to rest her head on him), and that’s exactly what she does.
Everyone’s settling in, but until she gets a bit bigger, she’s going to be in the screenporch baby cage if we’re both away from the house.
I have to admit, yesterday’s inaugural speech was the first I’ve heard in its entirety since Reagan’s.
Trump is no Conservative, but he is choosing a different route. Where that one takes us as a country, I have no idea. On the plus side, all of the right people hate his guts, which makes me want to give him a chance.
Right there with you. I actually feel as though the next four years of “interesting times” *might* turn out OK.
Better yet, during the speech, I was imagining how many fainting spells my buddy Bob succumbed to.

George Will hated Trump’s speech yesterday calling it “A most dreadful inaugural address”. I like George Will, but if you compare Trump’s speech to Obama’s in 2009, there isn’t a lot of difference. Both painted a bleak picture of America as it was; both talked about corruption; both talked about challenges; both talked about a brighter future if we work together.
The difference is that Obama used his usual flowery rhetoric and words and spoke twice as long. Trump was blunt and his speech devoid of nuance. Does that make it “dreadful”? I don’t think it does.
Happy Caturday, Gerbil Nation!
Good day, Fatwa, TeX!, and Sven!
TeX -- congrats on your latest “adoption”.
Sven -- the recurring theme I’ve read regarding Pres. Trump’s speech is that it was “dark” and they all repeat the phrase “American carnage”. No mention of bringing power back to the people. No mention of stopping the destruction in our inner cities. No mention of calling out the political elites.
Well, we are as ready for this storm as we can be. Picked up all the debris, checked the drains, moved stuff inside, etc. Supposedly the worst storm in 10 years with rainfall rates of 1-1.5 inches per hour.
This is Gandi. Mr. X said even though I fast-forwarded through every.single. ASPCA. commercial covering my eyes, something must have stuck, ‘cuz he thinks she haz a sad.

To show solidarity with all the protesters today, let me offer this:
Happy Caturday, Gerbil Nation!

I find it strangely comforting that protests against Trump are taking place outside of America. Nervous, are ya?
My point exactly, Dana and Greg:
Not a very optimistic picture, though perhaps he deserves credit for predicting the Obama economy?

Heh.
Well, we are as ready for this storm as we can be. Picked up all the debris, checked the drains, moved stuff inside, etc. Supposedly the worst storm in 10 years with rainfall rates of 1-1.5 inches per hour.
Thank you, Donald Trump!
Stay safe! Bring the raccoons in.
Been there, done that. Good luck!
