The media’s view of the riots 25 years ago. From the LA Daily News:
“When an all-white jury in Simi Valley acquitted the four police officers on trial in the King beating, outrage turned to violence.”
It wasn’t an “all-white” jury. 10 were white, 1 was Filipino, 1 was Mexican.
“The death of Michael Brown during an altercation with a white police officer, who said Brown tried to take his gun, ignited protests that turned violent in Ferguson, Mo., and captured the attention of the nation.”
All the evidence shows that this wasn’t an altercation -- it was an attack by Brown against the police officer. Darren Wilson didn’t just “say” that Brown tried to take his gun -- all the physical evidence confirms it.
Facts matter. But then again, why let the truth get in the way of a good story?
Mac’s thread pic accurately reflects my crabby mood this morning. 😉
I wish someone had told me as a sometimes-frightened little boy that the civil rights movement was going to end with a half-century-plus bout of whining and race baiting about pure-T bullshit.
Fuck the evil vultures who make a nice living and/or political hay about race. And -- especially -- the liberals, communiTEE and media members who keep pushing it.
They will never be satisfied with what they get; they ought to get nothing but the equality they rightly demanded 50+ years ago.
Funny how their actions have contributed mightily to my becoming the legendary “angry old white man”.
I was watching some old UFC fights and one of them was the Rich Franklin -- Evan Tanner title match back in like 2004 or so. Franklin beat the hell out of Tanner and won the fight, but Tanner never gave up. He died about 5 years later in a weird incident where he went out into one of the SoCal desserts and died of heat exhaustion. An interesting man.
Anyhow, one of his quotes came to mind: “I will not live by rules that make no sense to me.”
And another one: “I will do nothing lightly. When I walk, I will walk heavily. When I fight, I will fight with conviction. When I speak, I will speak strongly. When I feel, I will feel everything. When I love, I will love with everything.”
A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Help! My entree is eating my dinner!
Good morning, Paddy, and happy Sunday, GN!

Maybe the “identified” as white.
Just like journalists “identify” as intelligent.
G’day, GN; hai, Paddy and Sven!
