Good morning, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
Fatwa -- glad the projects are going well and the clients are happy. Miserable time to be up on a roof in SFV. Safe travels home. BrendaK will be happy to hear you picked up more Capodimonte. Nothing says love quite like tasteless tchotchkes.
The first day of Day Camp went pretty much as expected -- all the campers, parents, and youth staff trying to figure out what’s going on and where to go.
You know, I love you all, but sometimes you do make me look weird. I used to be on a number of gun forums but I now just hang around one. It is a small group that is very informal and mostly just social, with threads often degenerating into (or starting as) humorous exchanges and jokes. We have very little moderation and we drive off trolls rather quickly. The new members who stay tend to like the “grab a cup of coffee and drag up a chair” atmosphere.
The other day someone posted a question or obsevation that he was seeing a lot of people towing around trailers, often empty, and wondered if this was some new fad. Several trailer owning members pointed out they used their trailers often and that meant about half the time they were pulling them empty when going out to pick something up or coming back from dropping somethiong off. This led to a few trailer comments and jokes so I posted the comment,
“With Schrödinger’s trailer you don’t know if it’s empty or full until you go to load it.”
Now everyone here and almost everyone who has been here would get that without thinking, even if it was not funny, but it fell flat there. The first response was,
“Mac, you left me at the Candy Store with that one. ”
so I apologised and posted a brief explaination and a wikipedia link and You-tube video explaining it. Joke fail!
It was all well received and joked about but it was a reminder of what a special group this is. I am the least educated member here, the blue collar Gerbil, but it has always amazed me what a diverse group we were, all the stranger considering the cause that brought us all together back then. I can’t think of an issue I would pick to attract such a wide range of people together, but certainly not Deb.
You all are a weird and wonderful group. Thank you.
Back at ya, Mac. You said it much better than I could, but I’ll be forever grateful for having landed here and for the opportunity to meet all of you and to learn a thing or two.
Huh. Once again Americans, or at least Georgians, disappoint the ruling media class and lefties everywhere by refusing to elect a Democrat. What’s become of us? Sniff.
Wasn’t a Democrat victory supposed to show the end of Trump and the eclipse of the Republican party in our lifetimes? I don’t suppose a Republican victory means much, right?
Amazing. Your kid robs a store and then attacks a police officer and you sue for wrongful death and collect a bunch of bucks. Only in what used to be America…
Drive-by:
Wrote a longish comment on Jim’s computer Sunday which wouldn’t post.
Second project proceeding okay; required several change orders and has been keeping me hopping. Long days, hot weather in SFV.
Spent a lovely time with teh Svens on Saturday.
Today’s my last day on the job site; headed back to Larryville tomorrow. Job will probsbly run through Friday; new client seems to be very pleased.
Hope y’all have a great day!
Good morning, GN, and hello Fatwa! Safe travels home -- pack the Capodimonte carefully.

Well that just pisses me off. The family should have been charged for the riots they incited. Just damn.
