If you can spare a few prayers, friends, send them winging towards my cousin Norina in Maryland. She’s been quite ill and it doesn’t appear that she’ll last the night.
I had a good long talk with her last week and she was accepting of her fate -- calm and resigned, no woe is me-life is unfair crap. They thought she’d have maybe 6 months to a year, but as is often the case, things turn quickly.
She’s always been quite the liberal which became the focus of many humorous conversations between us, but I had to laugh at her about face on some issues lately. She’s a huge civil war enthusiast -- when we were back there 5 years ago to see my aunt -- her mother- she took us to Gettysburg and we spent the day there with her as our personal tour guide. She mentioned how furious she was with the removal of Confederate monuments -- how you can’t erase history nor should you. I told her that that was her people doing that and her response was “Yeah, well liberals have become real assholes over the last ten years.”
Her favorite was Custer. Always had been ever since she was a little girl. Norina is 12 years older than me, but I remember when I was 3 years old and we were all at my grandfather’s house in Oak Park Illinois and I was sitting in her lap in the living room and she was telling me the story of Custer’s Last Stand and drawing pictures to illustrate her story of the Last Custard Stand. There were Indians on horses with ice cream cones and Union soldiers with banana splits. I think she didn’t want to frighten her quite sensitive little cousin.
Happy Caturday and Happy July, Wheelizens!
Who could possibly doubt such an earnest, innocent-looking puppy?
“Nope, haven’t seen Senator Schumer.”
Happy Caturday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
Sven -- tasteless.
No matter how much seasoning you add to Schumer.
Hai, Sven and Paddy!
I suspect Schumer would also be stringy and/or gristly.
Oh, wait…you were referring to Chuckie. 👿

Good night, friends.
So sorry, Sven. Not a day for good news. I wish peace and comfort for her and for you.
Prayers for comfort and strength for this journey for all y’all.
