Thanks, Fatwa. I read through it this morning. Interesting.
The WOD has been a failure that has ruined hundreds of thousands of lives through murder, imprisonment, and collateral damage both to people and the Constitution. This is one of those big stories that the media and politicians shy away from…to their everlasting shame.
And on the other hand, even though the govt’s involvement in this war has made things worse, it comes down to an individual choice: we know there is a direct link between the violence in our land and in Mexico and illegal drugs. The govt is probably wrong here, but furthering the demand side of the equation, by choice, isn’t helping any.
There are govt solutions and there are cultural solutions. But the cultural side of this issue has gone nowhere while our betters worry and lecture us about global warming, transgendered bathrooms, and safe spaces.
Good morning, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
I got a text from the painter’s wife last night (she handles the business side of things) and he won’t be able to make it out until Thursday of next week. Well, that’s just going to make it harder on him. We were waiting to install the remainder of the lights and hang the chandeliers until after the ceiling was painted, but not now.
At-Least-It’s-Not-Monday salutations, GN!

Hope your counters do actually get installed this afternoon…and that you can get your painter to do the danged ceiling.
Re the War on Drugs, here’s a link to a podcast (and transcript of an) interview with the author of a new book on the subject:

(Warning: Transcript is somewhat typo-laden. Also somewhat surprising, especially about what a stone cold racist bastard Harry Anslinger was.)

Good morning, GN, and hi, Fatwa!
Good luck with the counters today, Paddy.
Hai, Sven!
Here’s a good example of why typography is important (click to embiggen):
I’ll bet Belle Chic’s marketing director is Führious that he or she did Nazi a problem with this. 👿

Off to read the podcast.

Hope the painter doesn’t get pissy ’cause he made his own job more difficult.
