As a non-sportsball guy, I find the #TakeAKnee imbroglio nonsensical. The folks doing it are (mostly) being paid a metric carp-tonne of money to play a damned game. Their behavior strikes me as nothing more than cheap SJW BS and virtue signalling.
If they really want to do something to create, erm, change, how about they generously support causes they deem worthy. Or start a foundation. Or volunteer.
But I don’t think their stated reasons for #TakeAKnee square with their real motivations; they mostly don’t like Trump.
Well, neither do I. Didn’t much care for any of his predecessors during my life, either. So I’ve been sneeringly insulting and mocking of them. But in my own weird, profane way, I’ve generally been respectful of American traditions because I believe in the basic values upon which this country was founded.
I also don’t approve of compelling peoples’ behavior re things like the national anthem; doing so is contrary to what I perceive as American values. Compulsion’s totalitarian shit (which I admit is one of my “hot buttons”).
That said, I hope the NFL manages to off itself. I have no feeling about football one way or the other, but I truly despise crony capitalist tax-leeches. I feel exactly the same way about the National Endowment for the Arts and other gummint programs which support some things I like -- as well as many I don’t.

I’ll only add that I really don’t like what was done to Alejandro Villanueva; watching him grovel was very much like watching video of a POW being forced to denounce a country or cause against their will.
That right there is some profoundly evil, commie-level shit and made my fucking skin crawl. Enough!
