Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Hey, GN!

Is that a recursive kitteh?

Mac --

Cheers for the movie link yesterday; gonna try to watch it in the next day or two.

Interest in roofing has picked up significantly this week; the beginning of October reminds folks in SoCal that, “Uh oh…it may start raining soon; maybe we should do something about that leak we’ve been aware of since February.”

BBL.

This is interesting. Vegas PD press conference last night. If you go to the 3:00 mark, the sheriff is apparently responding to criticism about their response time. His timeline is that first reports of gunfire are at 10:08 and that all shooting from the room had stopped by 10:19.

“So what do you think about that?…The first minute the police are aware of shots being fired at 10:08 and it stops at 10:19. That’s a remarkable response by this police department.”

By all accounts, the police on the ground acted competently and bravely, as did paramedics and civilians. But to take credit, as this sheriff appears to be doing, that they somehow stopped Paddock is baffling. Paddock stopped shooting on his own accord, not in response to anything, as far as I can tell, that the police did.

Hai, Sven!

That is quite odd.

IIRC, it was about and hour and twenty minutes from the first call to the police until Paddock’s room was breached. (Which, given the totality of events, doesn’t seem out of line; there was a lot for LVPD and CCSD to deal with.)

I agree the part of the presser you noted is baffling.

I can understand how they are sensitive to criticism and from what I can tell, there was nothing more that they could’ve done. Since Paddock had stopped firing from the room, there was nothing wrong with waiting in the hallway especially with all the conflicting reports of multiple gunman, etc. But to imply that their 8-minute response time somehow stopped this guy just doesn’t seem to hold water and it seems to be little more than a facesaving effort. And that’s wrong and dangerous.

Good morning, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!

Recursive kitteh? Yeah, I can handle that.
Recursive Hoff? Not so much.

So, the whack-job shot for 11-12 minutes, then just stopped? And an hour or so later the police breached the hotel room?
