The Thomas fire’s containment is up and the winds have died down, but it’s still burning. Ten days after it started and we can still see the flames from it at night. Air quality in Ventura County and points north is bad.
Hot, in the 80’s today, and dry. Not good weather.
The guys are working in Simi Valley this week (doing general maintenance / repairs at a place which -- allegedly -- will be engaging us for a significant repair project spread-out over the next three years.)
Jim said the air quality wasn’t too bad; ditto out in Camarillo.
Been a lousy year for fires out there; my SiL was visiting her family in NoCal when the fires broke out there. Her family had to evacuate but, fortunately, their homes weren’t burnt.

As Sven said, it’s still hot out here. My next door neighbor is having a couple of trees removed from his back yard, one of which we have wanted removed for a couple of decades now. The tree is right up against the fence and the roots have lifted up our patio. It’s also ugly and has a tendency to drop large branches when the winds come.
I’m sorry to see that the establishment won in Alabama.
I had to go to Oxnard today -- took the 101 north. Leaving Thousand Oaks and going down the Conejo grade into Camarillo, the smoke was so thick that visibility was not more than 5 miles. The whole valley was completely filled with smoke just hanging there like heavy fog.
