The other part of what I think is that the media explosion consisting almost solely of virtue signaling is even worse than the words, if accurate, uttered in a private meeting between Trump and lawmakers.
A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven!
Thanks for the Claire Wolfe link, Sven. In this discussion, I also think we need to separate out refugees from regular visa applicants. In regards to the former, we should also follow international law that requires refugees to apply for refugee status in the first country they arrive in, not the one they deem most desirable.
Congrats on your firsties and getting your new water heater installed yesterday. Hope things have mostly dried-out and that the cleanup goes faster than anticipated.
Also, cheers for the Claire Wolfe link.
I’m still finding all of the pearl-clutching over ShitholeGate pretty hilarious, given the typical rhetoric of those feigning the most offense.
Also read that the moron who panicked our fiftieth state yesterday will be sentenced to “retraining”. Why didn’t the state government make sure this individual was properly trained in the first place??
(Rhetorical question; it’s the bumbling, incompetent, union-infested public sector…AKA America’s Biggest Shithole™.)
I read an interesting article last night on the false alarm by someone who is familiar with the emergency alert systems as he has been involved in setting them up on military bases. He does not buy the “hit the wrong button” story. He said there is no one button that will send it. You have to pick the alert you want from a menu and hit a send button, then hit a confirmation button that you want to send it. Even if you have that particular warning pre-loaded you have to hit the send and the confirmation buttons to send it. He said he thinks it was something more and hopes they will investigate what really happened and find who and how rather than sweeping it under the rug. One interesting thing he mentioned was that they use the system on militarey bases to sound the bugle calls twice a day, thus testing the systems twice a day with nobody even knowing. Nice.
We have tornado sirens locally and during the season they test them every Saturday at noon. Once you get used to it you glance at the time and ignore it but it is always interesting to see new folks come out of their house to see what is going on. They sure sound different to your ears when you hear it any other time, and it is not because the siren is different.
Thanks for that article and your comments, Mac. Assuming the article’s remotely accurate, the alert was a pretty colossal screw-up. Which -- unsurprisingly -- the authorities have already decided to obfuscate and cover-up.

“Cover this up, ya scumbags!”
When we moved to Cleveland in ’63, they used to test the Civil Defense sirens there every Tuesday morning at 10:30. First time it happened, it freaked me out. I was six-years-old, in a brand new school, etc…but I knew what those sirens meant. (Did not know where in the building we were supposed to go.)
The teacher had to explain this particular local custom to me. (I then used to worry about the Russians bombing at 10:30 a.m. on a Tuesday, since everyone would ignore the warnings.) 😉
You’d think maybe the MSM media would be interested in pursuing the HI story, but they have more important things to cover like Trump saying sh*thole.
Or perhaps they are still too busy digging into what really happened in Vegas a couple of months ago, or the Daniel Shaver killing, or perhaps the all charges dropped in the Cliven Bundy case story.
The house is more or less functional. We’ve done as much as we are going to for this weekend anyways. It could have been a lot worse, but what it was is messy enough.

First! Yeah, me!
Happy Sunday, GN!
Got the new hot water tank installed yesterday, but still have lots of cleanup to do. Not happy with that, but gotta do what’s gotta get done.
I see the media and the whole world is still up in arms about Trump’s “sh*thole” comments. Whatever.
Claire Wolfe, no Trump fan herself, sums up part of what I think about this whole mess:

“See this button? Don’t push it!”
I’m sorry, how hard was that?
Well, we are talking public sector union employee(s), so the difficulty level is probably all over the place depending on the individual.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
See the dilemma? 👿
