An NBC Bay Area Investigation reveals a dangerous concoction of drug needles, garbage, and feces lining the streets of downtown San Francisco. The Investigative Unit surveyed more than 150 blocks, including some of the city’s top tourist destinations, and discovered conditions that are now being compared to some of the worst slums in the world.
During one of the anti-Semitic rants in the chat, [Nikolas] Cruz spoke of his birth mother, saying, “My real mom was a Jew. I am glad I never met her.”
Um, dude, that technically makes you a, oh, nevermind…
I should have explained. They don’t even have to have the black background. Any figure all in black is considered invisible. A character on stage could throw a knife at another character and a black figure might take the knife from his hand, carry it “flying” across the room and put it into the other character. I think this goes back to kabuki or even Noh, but I still see it.
I have seen this in theater videos and I even have a performance of the opera, Madame Butterfly where the stage hands were moving sets during the performance. I found it intriguing as I got used to it.
We should be hearing from the Hollywood crowd any day now, welcoming back Harvey Weinstein:
“I am going to need a place to channel that anger so I’ve decided that I’m going to give the NRA my full attention,” Weinstein wrote in a statement. “I hope Wayne LaPierre will enjoy his retirement party. I’m going to do it at the same place I had my Bar Mitzvah.”
Hopefully while he’s kicking the snot out of the NRA, he’ll leave the potted plants alone.
I’m doing some soul searching. My professional organization has elections next month and another member-blogger put together an interview with each candidate and then posted the questions and responses. One of the candidates is a woman whose professional qualifications and focus are appealing. And then I get down to the last question and answer:
Q: What is something that few people don’t realize or know about you (that you would be willing to share)?
A: I marched in the January 2017 Women’s March in Washington DC. I traveled in a caravan of buses from the state of Georgia to join thousands and thousands of buses from most U.S. states. And I wore my pink hat.
And my first reaction is yeah, no.
Everything about her professionally is fine -- do her obvious political leanings that I find abhorrent matter? Should they? Would I vote for her if she just said something innocuous like “I enjoy long walks in the park to clear my head”? If another candidate answered that question with “I’m an NRA certified instructor and competitive shooter” how would the lefties in my organization react? I can’t imagine that they would overlook it and go ahead and give the guy their vote.
While I might be able to overlook a persons political views if they did not relate to their responsibilities, the lack of judgement or reason in what she did and in admitting it would worry me in any position.
Her actions mean she either uses the lowest political manipulation or is subject to it. Either she is unprincipled and unethical or she is foolish and can be manipulated and used by those who are. I don’t know what her duties would be or how she would effect you but neither of those speaks well for her in my mind, and I would have no reservations about my opinion on that being proper and relevant.
I am an atheist but have no problem with devote Christians or people of other faiths holding office. If they believe their religion has a right to destroy another or want their beliefs taught as science and science that does not align with their gospel suppressed, then I have major issues with that. It is not because of their religious beliefs but because of their unamerican beliefs.
G’mornin’, GN!
The news seems particularly depressing / vexing today; bah!
So, here’s a wonderfully weird Japanese video:
Scheiß-a-roni…the San Francisco treat!!

Cool. So now I can legitimately call San Francisco a shithole because science.
Happy Tuesday, GN and good morning, Fatwa.
Hai, Sven!
Forty years ago this month, I moved to S.F.; street-shitting was already an issue back then. Glad to see the improvements. 👿
Caveat -- This comes from CNN:

Um, dude, that technically makes you a, oh, nevermind…
Interesting. I wonder why he was given up for adoption?
Good morning, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
Thanks for the weird video, Fatwa. Now I’ll have to ask my sons about the hellshake reference.
San Francisco -- literal liberal sh!thole -- confirmed by Science!
Hai, Paddy!
Just got an email from a friend who opined Fergie’s performance of the national anthem was so bad, Yoko Ono called to complain.
Heh.
There are some things even autotune can’t fix.
‘Struth.
In the video, shouldn’t the two guys have been dressed in black? It just didn’t look right with them in white, I could not not see them.
I get it now (after having watched the video you linked below).

Like not “seeing” the wire on Peter Pan when performed on stage.

I quite enjoyed that; t’anks, Mac!
I saved it years ago. It made me laugh when I saw it.
The Japanese have weird humor.

I want to be angry at this one as I don’t like the innocent victim aspect but I can’t help but laugh. I am a bad boy.
Maybe it’s different when they provide sound or dialog?

But should it matter?
Any thoughts?

Thanks, Mac. It worries me too. And at the same time, I’m uncomfortable with my gut reaction.
