“Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!” -- P. O’Furnijur
I find this Tweet more than a little appalling; who the hell is running ATF’s Twitter account? (If you click on the below, you can also read the responses…which are not exactly flattering to the Bureau.)
Today marks 25 years since the ATF mission near Waco, TX. We honor the memories of the 4 ATF agents killed in action -- SAs Conway LeBleu, Todd McKeehan, Rob Williams, and Steve Willis, and the bravery of all the agents present that day. pic.twitter.com/C4CXYaLGZg
Many of the comments confuse the ATF and the FBI. The ATF initiated the action as they did ay Ruby Ridge but they got their butts handed to them and had to limp off with their tails between their legs and let the FBI step in and kill everyone as at Ruby Ridge. I hold both organizations in contempt but I despised the ATF since the 60s and did not see what the FBI was until the early 90s, though it became clear it went back much farther. Their PR was better.
Watched the last episode of the Waco series last night. It was harsh but still did not show some of the more despicable aspects and actions. I have only watched Ep 3 and 6 so far but I thank you Sven for pointing it out. I will be watching and saving it all (they are all on the DVR now).
Both documentaries, Waco-Rules of Engagement and Waco-The new Revelations are on You-tube. I already have them and they are very powerful. The Senate hearings are as disturbing as some of the video.
Sad when student JROTC members show more courage than the LEOs we are told to depend on. I was JROTC in high school for three years until they ended the program at my school. I was CO at my school in my third year with fourth year students under me. I probably got more useful education from that than anything else I took. I think the honorary West Point appointment is a nice gesture but I hope a future Bill Clinton in the WH does not sell them to rich donors for their children like burial at Arlington.
I am much in favor of on person carry. Advances in small and light firearms make it much more practical. It used to be the small pocket sized guns were chambered for “mouse gun” cartridges like .22 short or .25 ACP, but today you can get thinner and lighter guns chambering .380 ACP or 9mm Luger With newer hollow points these are decent defensive rounds for the purpose. Before Elena and I were married I carried a Beretta 21 in 22LR in an inside pocket in my leather jacket. It was easy to conceal but not a good caliber. I later switched to a .38 Spec revolver in an IWB holster and carried it for over ten years. That is what I was carrying at the Gerbil meetings. When I broke my right shoulder in Feb 2007 I just switched it to the left side and wore it butt forward. This worked fine, even better when seated, so I kept it that way until I switched to a semi-auto.
A purse just seems like a poor place given the activities of purse snatchers and the curiosity of children. Better a smaller gun one can access. I do think something a bit faster is in order, though that might be good for a more serious weapon with a smaller gun more accessible.
I’ve watched Waco 1-4; will either watch the last two episodes tonight or tomorrow. It’s a good series -- mostly accurate -- and I’m glad I was able to tell you about it, Mac.

Sheesh.

Hai, Mac --
Thank you for that link; it’s a little dusty here at CasaK right now.
I very much hope the honors given to those kids provide some small comfort to their families and friends.
I suspect so, given one young man was buried in his uniform.
Thanks for that link, Mac.
Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, Sven, and Mac!
Thanks for the link to the ATF twit-feed. How incredibly tone deaf!
I heard about the young man’s posthumous appointment to West Point, but I hadn’t heard about the Medal of Heroism. Thanks for that link, Mac.
In a sane world, we’d be hearing much more about those three young heroes and much less from the media whores.
You are so right, Sir. (As usual!)
This woman is tastefully accessorized:

I was impressed at the amount of hardware she had concealed on her person, especially the knife and extra magazines.
Reminded me a bit of The Banana Man:
I could watch that little kitty all day.
It caught the red dot big time.
