I don’t get the point of your cow-worker’s “running over nuns” comment, either.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I think you’re wise to avoid attending the “March For Our Lives” protest in downtown Los Angeles; Antifa and other violent “progressive” goons are nearly certain to be present there. And a guy -- even one your size -- in an NRA shirt is likely to be attacked…and/or be asked to leave by the cops.
Ventura or Santa Barbara are, IMHO, much safer choices. Wouldn’t be surprised if there was one in T.O., too. (FWIW, Jim thought the T.O. police took the “peace officer” approach to their jobs much more to heart than many other local agencies. YMMV.)
BetterHalfK opined it might be advisable to take a few buddies if you counterprotest. She also said that LEOs might deem you a “provocateur” (as your presence would make their job more difficult).
The “nuns” thing was part of a joke that I guess I was supposed to be familiar with -- like something out of Deathrace or some other movie. I think. I know it had nothing to do with him being Jewish or hating Catholics or nuns, but still -- it was like a softball thrown right over the plate…
So far, the only events in SoCal are Palmdale, Long Beach, Manhattan Beach, and LA proper. I’m disappointed in the SFV -- they ought to be able to get one going. Wait…OK, there is one in Santa Barbara! Now if Oxnard or TO can get off their duffs…
I’m watching this concert (“One More For The Fans” Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute Concert) from 2015 at the Fox Theater in Atlanta -- what a nice looking venue. Really good stuff too -- sample:
Top o’ teh mornin’, GN!

Sadly, I must concur with her.
Hard to fathom that that there could be violence at an event protesting gun violence.
My intentions right now are not to counter-protest per se -- just be there with my “colors” and listen respectfully.
Good morning, Fatwa, and happy Sunday, GN!

A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
It’s not often you see a rock hyrax riding on a tortoise, well at least not since the 60’s, but that’s different.
Hai, Paddy! I am totally unsurprised you knew what sort of critter was riding the tortoise.
Just got back from a Sam’s Club run; we demonstrated amazing restraint. 😉
That sort of carp’s generally less of a problem here in GA. 👿
I imagine so. California has little to be proud of or to enjoy much anymore.
