The high school that I go by on my way to work really ties traffic up, so I went to their website to see when the school year ends. They had this note on their school calendar which I found hilarious:
“Please notice that we no longer have 14 early dismissal Tuesdays. They have been replaced by 35 late start Wednesdays so teachers have a consistent time to meet to reach our WASC and LCAP goals.”
34 late start days -- sheesh. So I used to be able to go home early like every other Tuesday, but now I get to come in late every Wednesday.
Reduce the number of instructional minutes so teachers have more time to meet to go through some departmental circle-jerk to meet the deficiencies identified by the accrediting team.
I thought maybe there was some reasonable explanation, Paddy, but I guess not, eh? It’s been 40 odd years since I was in high school, but I don’t recall any regularly shortened days at all, much less 14 replaced by 34 late days.
When I was at the brick and mortar school, every other week we had a late start -- ostensibly for department meetings to work on department goals, create useless paperwork, etc.
Happy Monday, GN!
If the new sofa that thread GIF kitteh is “training” for is a cabbage rose couch, I fully support teh cat. 👿
Happy get back to work day or otherwise known as Monday. Hi, Fatwa.
It’s another Monday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
I’ve got the feeling that today is going to be a long Monday. Here’s hoping y’alls is better.
Heya, Sven and Paddy!
Hope the “long Monday” prognostication turns out to be incorrect.
Here’s yet another example of why trigger discipline is important (NSFW -- language and stupidity):

That sounds about right.

So the Philadelphia Eagles won’t be going to the White House. Wow, I bet that will help NFL ratings next season.
I’m sure PDT is heart-broken over this (but the media will frame it as yet another referendum on the horrors of the Trump presidency).
