The painters will be back this morning to continue their work. I noticed last night that they didn’t mask off the ceiling when they sprayed the crown molding. This wouldn’t normally be a problem, as they are both the same color, except the ceiling is flat and the crown is eggshell. It looks like they’ve got some more work to do that they hadn’t planned on.
Perhaps the painters had planned on having to touch-up the ceiling; a lot of them can do details / cut-ins in lots less time with a brush than it takes to mask stuff off.
Hope it comes out to your satisfaction in the end.
In this case I think it was a mistake. An 8-inch wide band on the ceiling will take more time to paint than it would to mask off, and it requires paint that isn’t being used anywhere else.
The painters will be back tomorrow to touch up the ceiling.
When we told our contractor that we didn’t want the bedroom ceiling or walls painted -- we’ll paint the walls ourselves -- he thought we were also repainting the ceiling.
