It’s under warranty and someone will be here tomorrow, so it’s only a “damned nuisance” at this point. (Frankly, I’m delighted they can get someone here within 48 hours of my call.)
Fortunately, it’s “only” going to hit 90ยบ today and will be partly cloudy.
My best guess is that we’ve lost refrigerant somehow; whatever it was happened pretty quickly as the unit was running fine right up until it started making digeridoo-like noises and blowing hot air. I checked the refrigerant line at the heat pump and it was not cold.
So I’m sitting here with two box fans on “high” and a wet towel draped across my shoulders; I probably look like a slightly-dumpy middle-aged superhero.
Wednesday. Ugh.
Looking ahead at the weather forecast -- it’s going to be hot and miserable out here the next couple of weeks.
